guns have orange paint

Not to prevent someone (armed police) mistaking it for a real gun?

I've been in situations (British Army) where people are carrying guns & if someone was stupid enough to point a toy gun at me without an orange tip on, I'd rather shoot them in the face than take the chance of the same happening to me.

In today's social climate worldwide, I feel orange tips are a good measure.

Heck do you know why Optimus Prime's smoke stacks are short in the USA? cause Hasbro knows that, like in the 80's, people are too stupid to maintain their toys in good order. People will drop it, possibly kids will, and complain to get new stacks. Hasbro neutured OP just to avoid the costs of having to replace those parts.

Or because the parts that break off are a choking hazard maybe? We (collectors) are not Hasbro's money-makers, these are kids toys & need to be sold to children. Safety should always come first.

I highly doubt a $90 MP OP is for children. cmon. what parent, besides rich parents, would buy their child year old a MP OP. Dont tell me that is for children. I dont have a problem with the cheaper toys like the 6.99 cybertron TFs being geared to young children. But to make OPs stacks short just to save some money on replacing parts? heck if they just simply made a bunch more long stacks and had them on the side, the people who do break them would be more than happy to buy a replacement set.

You'd be surprised at how many kids do own a 20th Prime. I've only ever seen kids with them in my TRU. Do you really think it's to save money replacing parts? Why would Hasbro be obliged to replace parts that have been broken due to neglect? The smokestacks could poke a child's eye out or choke them if they snapped off & the kid put the parts in there mouth. Far fetched? Yes. A possibility? Yes. The costs from a legal case due to a child being seriously injured or killed would hurt Hasbro big-time. The bad publicity could potentially cripple them.

And back on topic...

Fort Max has the same legal/safety problems. Difference is, they can't alter the mold to make it safe enough without making it from sponge or feathers or whatever.

^ agreed, i think hasbro has done this to prevent pulling these figures off shelves. just think of how much it would suck knowing there is a recall on the 20th prime because some kid actually did injure himself for whatever reason (smoke stack or not). i say its better we got something than nothing at all.

n yah back on topic...

You know allot of this is more due to the stupidity of allot of parents not teaching their kids how to take care of things. As I've mentioned before my son had a TM Cheetor figure when he was 6 mos old. Now I know most would say you idiot it says for 5 and up. However I didn't give it to him until I had broken him of putting his baby toys in his mouth. He was pretty much done teething by 6 months and so I let him play with Cheetor. Then at 3 he wanted Optimal Optimus for his birthday and he still has him to this day granted he lost his orange bfg, and arm plates but he still has the main figure and it is in good condition. I think that the problem here isn't the kids it's parents not teaching their kids responsibility. That is also why we have such a high rate of unemployment today. The kids grew up and hadn't learned responsibility and now can't hold down a job. That is why my son who is 9 has a little 1 day a week job working at a place here in Aberdeen called the food sale. They have this little sale there every Friday night and it's kind of like an auction but the prices are set and if you get your number up first they send one of the kids to bring the food you asked for to you. It's not much but it is teaching him responsibility and the value of money. He was actually upset that I didn't have time this past Friday to take him due to us remodeling the bath room. Can you believe that a 9 yr old upset that he wasn't able to go to work. He's been saving the $5 a week he's been making there and now has $60 saved up. I guess my point is don't blame Hasbro for not wanting to take the risk of stupid kids due to stupid parents. Blame the parents who don't take the time to actually pay attention to their kids doing stuff that is dangerous.

While I'd love to see the original Fortmax reissued I know that it'll probably be a cold cold day in Ecuador before it happens. Same for a 20th Anniversary Edition Megatron. Even with an orange tip I doubt Hasbro will bother taking any chances. I know this was about a Japanese reissue but fact is if they can't sell it to Hasbro Takomy probably won't even bother with it.

If I ruled Hasbro. I would take the idea some knock off company had from years ago, and make a worlds smallest FT Max. The one I have is about the size of Metroplex (search my posts for it, maybe picts are still up)

Then release the worlds smallest TF's here in the states, including the prototypes they spent all that money developing and have them as US exclusives.

At the very least, have the comic book run a CLASSICS series, that could tie in all the old WST toys, FT max as the space ship base (borrowed by the Headmasters story line) and run with that.

They shot down the full sized re-release idea before. IF you were lucky maybe one scored the remake Brave max for $100, so I find it unlikely that they will make such a huge toy for sale again (unless there is a warehouse of parts waiting to be pieced together somewhere...)

Fort max : A horrible, ugly brick.

Stupid nostalgia aside, who would seriously buy a Fort max if he weren't, well, Fort max?

If he was released now, brand new and you had never seen him before, would you buy him?

I thin not.

And given that you don't buy up 52% of has/tak's stock, (Ie: Collectors bring in way too little revenue) It will never happen on such a massive bricktacular former.

I would be happy to take that burden off your hands. Just let me knwo whne you want to get rid of it. haha

As the reissues depend mainly on the availability of molds, what prevents Takara from releasing a 20th Anniversary Fort Max? :tfhuh

Profit margin is my guess. They can make more getting us to pay $100 for a MP figure. The expense of Fort Max at that rate would be too much for most people to buy.

If I saw a fort max-like mold on the shelf today I would pass on it. Not because it's a brick or because I already have one, but because the current continuities aren't interesting enough to make me want a toy that big. I enjoyed RiD immensely and it did inspire me to get a Brave Max.
