How are the classics doing?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has heard how the Classics toy line is selling. I would love to see this line carry on for quite awhile, or at least till most of the 84-85 characters are remade. Though I would love to see a classics Kup as well. Always liked that character, but hated the figure.

Unfortunately only Hasbro has the true sales numbers. All I can say is that Classics are still hard to find in my area. Not sure if that's because they're selling well or because companies still haven't restocked since christmas.

Well it seems Classics is doing well too well infact. I can't find not one Grimlock anywhere. I feel sorry for those who can find a jetfire too. I got lucky but I know alot of others have not. A few walmarts horded the optimuses and megatrons till the last minute and now those 2 voyagers are heating up the shelves. Why can't walmart just put the Blot out on the shelves when it comes in. As far as peg warmers go, Astrotrain leads the pack with Bumble bee trailing in second.

Honestly Hasbro should have made this line a full blown line w/ cartoon and all to go along side the movie. I mean com'on now, are there just only 6 characters for the film here? Really theres not a whole lot to the movie line. Hell if you thought the classics line was short just wait, once the movie is done w/ it's 3 month spot in most theaters before hitting the dollar matinée, these toys are going to be long forgotten.

"Hasbro marketing department, I still interested in running your department. And I have lots of experience."

I really need to send in that resume'

Out here, Astrotrain, Bumblebee, Mirage, & Optimus are the shelf-warmers. Grimlock, Jetfire, & Rodimus rarely ever show up, and Starscream & Megatron vary by store whether there's any or not. The classics 2-pack is starting to show up in all the stores out here now so we'll see how they do.

I think the new products (or the lack thereof) is the biggest indicator of what's coming (or isn't). There's only, what, Ramjet & Cliffjumper and the UM/Skywarp two-pack yet to appear, right? We're seeing TF Movie toy protos now, not Classics... I think that should tell you something.

Thanks to you and the others - I'm finally starting to see the Classics line more like the BW10th line, and less like Universe. I wish it would continue for years but that's probably not going to be the case :tdown

I don't get how anyone could have gotten any other impression.... not to sound like an ass or anything. It was just a filler line to bridge the gap between Cybertron and the movie.

FYI I anticipate that they'll be making movie toys/merchandise for a solid year.

Which is basically what Hasbro intended.

The movie line is intended to last the summer and the Holiday shopping season (although I don't expect to see a ton of additiional releases - they'll just sell what they've already made with a couple of new additions). Then I guess they'll start with "Heroes"

I can imagine they're going to make the movie figures in a similar fashion to some figures from other movies. I still remember when the first X-Men movie came out, they had standard clothes Logan/Wolverine, X-Men outfit Wolverine, Statue of Liberty battle Wolverine, Rogue, and then Rogue after she got the white streak in her hair.

So there's going to be the standard Optimus. Then there'll be a another version, same toy with some slight difference. It's so stupid.

I say keep the Classics coming. I still want to see them make Wheeljack, the twins, Jazz, Prowl, Bluestreak, and Trailbreaker.

Yep no matter what brand it is (apart from star wars) Movie toys just dont sell, they sit around in toys r us stinking up the shelves for months on end, X-men, ID4, Godzilla, Van Helsing, blah blah blah, the classics line had so much more promise and scope for continuation, I dont mind any more as I have had my little bit of nostalgia but anyone that thinks having the same 11 - 12 figures churned up and over for months on end is an idiot.
