ok i'll take a crack at this:

 

Starscream reverts back to his protoform and returns to cybertron to regroup and plan a new attack. he assembles a new army. most of the 'cons who were once Megatron loyalists agreed to follow under starscream in order to seek revenge on the Autobots and the humans for destroying their beloved leader. however, Shockwave believes HE should command, as he claims Megatron ranked him as such that he would become the new leader if Megs ever were destroyed. Starscream naturally lies and claims "Megatron told me i was the new leader in his dying words." this little "fight" is always present for most of the movie. Starscream selects the troops who will make up his Earth Destruction team. the team consists of himself, Shockwave, Soundwave, Astroscope (actually Astrotrain, but there's no train involved with him his time. just the shuttle. hence the name change), Wildrider, and Grindor (no he's not a skateboard this time). but as they planned the attack and departed for Earth, an autobot spy hiding in the shadows was listening to everything. the scene ends with him running off-screen

 

the surviving Autobots stayed on Earth since the last movie, knowing the Decepticons would be back. Optimus Prime receives a transmission from Mirage, who was the aforementioned spy, saying Starscream had amassed another army and was headed right for Earth! Prime tells him to find Prowl and Ultra Magnus and meet with him at Earth as well.

 

the decepticons near Earth and split up at the atmosphere. they each land in different areas. Starscream lands near another airbase and scans an F-18 Hornet for his Earth mode. i wont elaborate on his new bot mode as you all can probably guess what it'll look like.... moving on. Soundwave and Shockwave had landed at a different military outpost and took on their alt modes. Shockwave took the form of one of those trucks with the big missile pods on the back. i dont know what they're called... and Soundwave goes with a Stealth Fighter (i couldnt think of anything else that would fit....he's gotta be able to move on his own in alt mode. an IPOD wouldnt really work too well...) Astroscope lands in the ocean off the coast of NASA's Launchpad in florida. at the time, a shuttle was being prepped for launch. Astroscope hides behind a hill and scans the shuttle as it passes him on its way to the pad.

 

Wildrider and Grindor land near a country road with a railroad line that runs parallel to it. there's a street race going on and the 2 competitors are driving a Viper and a Corvette. the 2 'cons instantly like the cars and both start to scan them. but due to this being a street race, there's foul play going on, and the Corvette's driver rams the Viper off the road suddenly. wildrider, who was still able to follow the corvette with his scanner, accidentally bumps into Grindor, throwing his scanner off of the Viper. grindor fails to get the Viper as his alt mode. but before he is able to turn his scanner off and try again, the scanner beam reached a passing freight train's locomotive (an EMD SD60. look it up on google if you care to know what it looks like) and he gains it as his alt mode while wildrider was successful in acquiring the Corvette. Grindor is annoyed as his new form is very limited to where it can go, but he can't take on a different form so soon.

 

meanwhile, Ultramagnus, Mirage, and Prowl land and scan their alt modes. Magnus is a flatbed truck, Prowl is a police car (different kind than Barricade was), and Mirage scans a Racecar (one of those formula 1s, not a NASCAR-style Racecar) and they go to find prime

 

i dont have a good plot i guess. i was focusing on the characters, a newer, better starscream, and getting a Trainformer to fit. not sure what the plot should be

First - Grindor. GRINDOR?! - So much for this series sticking to being G1. Why would you include him of all characters? Plus doesn't this go against your own "tradition must be followed"? Cause Grindor was only ever a Mini-Con, not a full-scale regular TF. Plus he wasn't even a Decepticon Mini-Con. That breaks all the tradition right there.

 

Secondly - I guess you'd also have Starscream get a brand new face, since you hate it too, right? But why would Starscream go from a F-22 to a F-18? Isn't that more of a downgrade to suck, than an upgrade to awesome?

 

Thirdly - Sizes!!! - Astrotrain would have to be MASSIVE to have a Space Shuttle form. Think about that - He would have to be HUGE! Also a Viper and a Locomotive are very very different in size, a Car-Ready TF isn't gonna suddenly be able to be a Locomotive, especially since there is NO mass-shifting, sub-space BullBlot going on.

 

 

Just some thoughts to grow on.

I think Atmo's got some good ideas going on in his plot...it's true that Astroscope would be huge, but I think that's a good thing. It's a good way to up the stakes. BUT, his massive body and tremendous power that comes with that would almost require the plot to focus on him. He can't be 100 times larger than some of the Autobots, and be just a secondary character.

 

Also, other than the fact that you don't like Movie Screamer's design, I can't understand his gaining a new body, or even leaving Earth in the first place...it would be cooler if a new group of 'Cons just arrive on earth riding in Astroscope, who is a huge intergalatic ship, and who reformats into an Earth one.

 

To expand on yours, the movie should open with the Autobots facing the task of returning the Allspark to Cybertron, but realizing that none of them can carry it in their space-flight-worthy Protoform modes, so they call Omega Supreme (who is a giant Intergalatic Ship like Astroscope) to Earth in order for them to have proper transport back to Cybertron. Astroscope and the new Decepticons follow Omega Supereme to Earth, where they try and stop the Autobots from leaving the planet, and the big third act battle is them fighting in space, just outside the Earth's orbit, with Shia, his dad, and Megan Fox on board Omega.

 

The second film ends with the Decepticons defeated, and Omega and the Autobots blasting off for Cybertron, human friends in tow. The third movie could then take place mostly on Cybertron.

I feel saddened that so many interesting ideas have been ignored and yet Atmo's dribble gets a follow up by Hobbes.

It's an invoulantary reaction. In my writer's group, if someone has a good idea for their writing, there's not much to say about it. It's a great idea, write it down, way to go. What else is there to say? We're not there to pat each other on the back, we're there to help each other.

 

So an imperfect idea, well, that's an invite for everyone to jump in and mold it into something special.

Actually, according to Don Murphy, he said that they didn't want mass shifting in the first movie. That is because they felt that there was enough that would need to be explained, as it was. This is why Soundwave isn't in the first movie. They are saving him for the second so he can be "done right". In other words, we can expect to see mass shifting in the sequels, just not the first movie.

i like where hobbes's expansion of my idea is going. the idea of 2 massive bots fighting. but it not having to be the famous planet-formers

But seriously - That DOES NOT, I REPEAT NOT mean it will be in the sequels at all. All that means is that Soundwave's name was dropped twice from two different Movie Bots - Blackout & Frenzy - mainly because of fan-Starscreaming and the writers feelign that Soundwave wasn't being handled right. Don Murphy might have said first movie, but he never once mentioned it would be in the sequels, not one single time, ever.

 

All that statement was, is a way to help crowd-control the fanboys on Soundwave and his possible use later in a sequel. That is all.
