You phail.

No, anime does, in many ways, suck. Despite the animation and physical character design, which is superior by far to what anyone in any other country animates, pretty much all anime is the same crap. There's like 8 characters in all of anime. Let's review them!

-dispassionate, pretty antihero loner with tragic past.age 16-19.

-hyperactive,unintentionally sexy short girl.age 12-18.

-overly shy, callow male who is always being touched suggestively by women.prone to explosive nosebleeds and being mashed up against breasts.age 12-15.

-older. roguish warrior guy who dies heroically.age 19-35.

-painfully beautiful female-looking male villain.age-immortal half the time.

-very old wise man who turns out to be lecherous.age-at least 100.

-indecisive but warm-hearted princess type.age 15-20.

-huge roaring evil lieutenant monster guy who gets killed dramatically, in a long shot where they seem to be frozen, staring, before sliding apart into chunks/exploding.age irrelevant.

yup, that's pretty much all I can think of.I might have missed one or two.I'm sure many slavering fanboys will get their panties in a bunch and cite examples of how wrong I am. They bore me. I'm sure most of you readers know I have a point here. Anime is like every blonde pop star that Disney manufactured in the last decade-technically pretty to look at, but repetitive, empty and boring to anyone capable of critical thought.

Sounds like you've only watched a couple animes. They're definitely not all like that.

Oh, oh, can I play too?

The 4 types of American cartoon characters:

-strong male role-model

-strong female role-model

-generic tag-along boy

-generic tag-along girl

Meh, it's not that simple, you can't just lump everything together. Anime in Japan is like live action in the US, it's the medium of choice. You can't just pull stereotypes out of Star Wars and say they hold true for all movies and TV shows. I'm an anime fan, but I'd say that only about 25% of all anime is actually worth watching, thankfully that still leaves around 1000 titles. I think the same can be said about American cartoons. I'm not a big fan of the stuff on Nick (though I do love Avatar), but that doesn't mean I should hate all cartoons.

People who lump all anime together don't watch enough anime. Not to mention ridiculously narrow minded.

Does this mean that IDW is gonna get the license yanked from them?

I am not real thrilled with the idea of TFs being a marvel book again.

Otherwise - the Intellectual Property idea is really intriguing - can anyone elaborate on what that means for a company to be an IP-Company??

Also BW story sensibilities are definitely a bonus!

I wouldn't mind if Transformers went back to Marvel as long as Optimus got to show up in the next Marvel Ultimate Alliance game.

Only if they ever made a video game based off of the Marvel TF universe. Given that it didn't take place in the normal marvle universe(The appearance of Spider-Man in one issue was later retconned to be an alternate spider-man ala Ultimate Spider-Man.)...

Or if the TF's were up against Sentinels from the X-Men or Ultron was the main bady. (also in some kindof alternate universe)

Very true & verry well said. :thumb

I probably haven't watched as much anime but I've seen enough to know what is pretty decent and what is absolute crap. Though I won't comment on Avatar I find a lot of the Pokemon styled crap is what's giving anime a bad name. Sure there's a lot of crap in the anime market but it really doesn't take long to find something that stands out as worth watching,

There's actually nothing wrong with Pokemon, other than the anime is pretty repetitive.

Notice how I said PRETTY much anime is all the same crap. No, it's better to attach labels to those we disagree with than to admit that they might have a point.

Of course there are standout good anime, like some Universal Century Gundam series (Stardust Memory, War in Pocket), Ping-pong club, Berserk, Macross Plus, and a few others.I've watched more than my share of anime while with SPOA when we rented out our own viewing rooms at NekoCon, Katsucon, ConVergence, etc.

I can and will flatly state that for every standout good anime, there are tens of thousands of crapwads like DBZ, Fist of the North Stars, Overfiends, Ninja Resurrections, Shuten Dojis, Wind Named Amnesias, Fatal Furies, Samurai Shodowns, Viruses, Tekkamans, Zatch Bells, Cardcaptor Sakuras, Yugi Ohs, Fushiigi Yugis, etc.

So much of it seems stale, phoned-in, mass-produced, repetitive...just like pretty much everything. I'd go so far as to say that the Japanese IN GENERAL aren't quite as creative when it comes to cartoons as Americans. This is why I prefer American creators paired with Japanese animation studios.

If I REALLY wanted to slam anime, I'd have mentioned tentacle porn....or even KissPlay. Don't make me go there.
