Looking over those, I DO see an iconography for BW Megatron. The scowl. The diamond on the helmet. The bags beneath the eyes.

 

I'd probably use him as a template.

 

Heck, in retrospect, I think I'd make Megs into a dinosaur with a cannon.

You got the cannon. You got the T-Rex/beast element.

 

In general, I'd like Starscream to look more pristine. If he's a macho grunt... and if he doesn't backstab Megatron... that will be what loses me as a fan of this movie.

 

I'm also scared that the Autobots won't talk enough or won't learn english until the end.

Trust me I haven't even stated what I want in this movie because all expectations went out the door once their knee jerk reactions and outburst started coming out. That and the droopy dog face optimus prime pic...oh wait my bad, they're going to fix a digital pic with cgi...wtf was I thinking?...

 

Take a vehical and put it through a industrial shredder, weld it into a form of something and you have a robot, throw in some cgi to cover the welding slag - THIS IS ALL THAT I WANT FROM THIS MOVIE.

Hopefully they can go to make Live Action GI Joe next with a bunch a overweight midgets...I know I could be happy with that.

Just keep in mind that I wanted Megs to be a G2-esque giant tank, and I'm still happy with what I've seen so far.

So why exactly do movie Prime and Megs just HAVE to look like their old G1 counterparts? If I want to see bright primary colors and antiquated designs, I'll watch my prized G1S1 DVD's. All I've read on here is that the characters are soooooo iconic that to not pay homage would be offensive to, like, Santa Claus or something. The Pope AND the Dahli Lama would issue a joint statement denouncing the movie and the millions of TF fans.... or the hundreds of thousands.... OK, the tens of thousands of TF fans out there would have to kill themselves to keep the secret pact they signed when they bought their first Transformer at age 5.

Forgive me for wanting the two most iconic characters of my childhood to look slightly similar to their original design, at least in the face. I'm not saying the entire thing has to look identical, or even close, but I want something about it to strike me and say, "Hey, that's Megatron." If you can't tell it's Megatron at first glance like you can with the movie Prime design (which rocks), then there's something wrong. Those are the only two characters that I can say I care what the faces look like. After that, I welcome change!

Prime IS much more iconic than Megs. Hence why prime's head sculpt is similar in every incarmnation. Megs' varies alot from series to series.
