Starscream cannot be the leader of the Decepticons that takes away most of his appeal. His whole thing is that he always thinks he knows better than megatron, and can do better, but he really can't and Megs knows it. Hell if megs ever really felt threatened he would have just destroyed him. Just look at the Marvel run of comics, through the whole line Screamer is trying and failing over and over to be leader. Hell, even Ratbat got to be leader!

 

As for SS being more iconic than Megs I can't agree with that. In every incarnation of Transformers Megs has been the main focussed villian. He had some of the greatest battles, and he had some of the coolest toys (I don't care if the bot mode sucks, I still get a chill holding my G1 Megs)

I think there might be some misunderstanding.... I only meant that Starscream has "stuck" more in the collective subconscious than Megatron has. I wasn't implying that they should make him leader or any of that. Nor was I implying that that somehow makes Starscream "better". It's just how things happened.

oh really? how many toys named "Megatron" actually look like Megatron? now how many toys named "Starscream" actually look like Starscream? the Megatrons from AEC might as well be all new characters but the AEC Starscreams are easily recognized as Starscream.

I know you BW/BM Megs reminded me alot of Starscream. In the fact that he wasn't the real Megs but he wanted to be ruler of Cybertron. One difference in BW Megs and Starscream is that he was the most powerful amonst his crew and he was feared. But just like Starscream he didn't have whole hearted support from his crew and his personality. He believed he was above every one else. he was constantly making smart remarks. He only cared about himself with no regard what so ever for hiw crew and he never had their best interest in mind. He was vain and dramatic and in the end for the sake of power, he willingly sacrificed every one for his goals. He talked to himself a lot too.
