MP-03 Masterpiece Starscream review .....

Recommended Posts

pete doesnt own one and doesnt intend to - which makes all his posturing a little disingenuous.

:tflaugh

I still haven't decided yet... I tend to think out loud sometimes.

What's to decide? Buy em now! Whether he's a Jet or a Bot, you still win.

I like to think carefully before dropping $100 on a toy, it's just something I do ;)

and yet you talk about detailed statues and collectibles and adult would be proud of owning .... How much do you think those replicas/statues are gonna cost???

The hard hero statues were like $45 a piece, so i dont see how this isnt easily worth more than two of those.

I'm not understanding why you're drawing a distinction between Hard Hero statues and figures like MP Starscream. They're in the same basic category IMO; it's just that one is in the "statues" subgroup and the other is in the "action figures" subgroup. But they're both clearly intended for adult collectors.

My point is that i am not drawing any distinction. You ask for "A" and get "B" which are, as you say, both intended for the same audience, and yet you dismiss "B" for being too expensive for just a toy.

It just seems that if "A" is worth the cost, then "B" is absolutely worth it.

BTW- "A" = Statues, "B" = MP figures.

Dude, I dismissed nothing. Right? All I ever said was that $100 is a lot of money to spend on a toy. That's not the same as saying "it's too expensive". It would only be too expensive IMO if I felt it weren't worth the expense.

WHICH IS WHAT I'M TRYING TO DETERMINE FOR MYSELF KTHX JEEBUS :tflaugh

Like I said, I tend to think aloud. What you see in my comments is Angel Madhammer and Devil Madhammer arguing between themselves about it.

...I just realized that one of the thin pieces that pokes out between the jet's engines broke off. And I can't find the piece, so I don't know if it was broken in my house or if it was broken before the toy was even packaged.

After all I did to keep it from damaging... *weeps*

I just recieved and opened mine. My thoughts:

1) The first review is pretty much right on in every respect. Go read it again if you are on the fence.

2) Mine had some pretty bad qc issues. A) One leg doesn't like to stay extended if I put weight on it. B) there are some glue spots where no glue should be C) the cockpit doesn't stay lined up perfectly in jet mode.

3) Is it worth $100? I think a more appropriate price would be $65, but I'm not sad I paid more, knowing thats the going rate. So for me, yes it was worth it and I wouldn't sell it to you for $100 except to get another one and roll the dice on better QC.

4) I will pose mine in robot mod standing without the stand with the hip kibble on the legs. The limitations the hip kibble creates with regard to leg posability is too great to sacrafice and he's more stable with it on the legs.

5) he is the high water mark for TFs in terms of transformation and Bot vs Alt tradeoff (both rock).

6) he's not any harder to transform than MP-01

As a note, one friend who doesn't have any TFs saw this one and said, I may have to copy you and buy this one. He doesn't feel compeled to by MP-01.

1. the screw that holds the cockpit on, loosen it a 1/4 turn and you should be able to adjust it fine, it helped mine.

2. agreed but after paying $250 for my VF-1J SSS, a $100 isn't that bad.

3. 100% right on

4. I dunno, I still think MP01 is the benchmark.

5. True but there is that more of a risk factor.

I just got it in a local shop here in The Netherlands. A bit more expensive (120 euros) but definitely worth it! Damn, it looks even more awesome then on the net.

Where are you at in the Netherlands? I have a friend that is over there in Holland. I might send him that way.

I'm glad i never got this toy. i would be SOO mad if I broke a 100+ dollar toy.

I never felt like I was going to break it. If it fealt like I was doing something wrong, I stopped doing it and did something else. The one exception is that one of the legs was glued into the closed possition, so one opened easily and the other not at all.
