With a little energon and a lot of luck, Pretenders could be made completely bad-ass. The others already were cool, so they don't need fixin'.

Marvel Legend style Pretenders? :schin

My only question is, why is the option Combiners not in the question?

anyways, I'll be overjoyed if they remake a LeoKaiser into Classics... but that'll be the day. ;P

Because everybody would like to see combiners in some form and almost every TF line ever has had combiners?

By the time any of these gimmicks are even discussed, combiners would be a given.

RiD had Ruination/Bruticus and Magnus/Prime.

Armada had Megatron/Tidal Wave and Prime/Overload/Jetfire.

Energon was an entire line built around combination and gave us new gestaults.

Cybertron gave us Leobreaker/Prime at least.

Universe has had the Rid molds used as Constructicons and various micromaster gestaults.

By the time discussion of ANY of these gimmicks came up, we'd see combiners on the shelves in Classics packaging.

And combiners aren't just a G1 thing in my mind, they're a hallmark of TFs in general anyway.

So in my mind, Targetmasters or Headmasters are far more "old school". (We've had all of two Headmaster-type homages, both Armada molds and a few minicons that double as guns.)

In the miracle event that Classics outlasted the movie line -- even by a month or two, I'm convinced we'd see combiners of some stripe, even if they're repainted Energon molds. And if they aren't in Classics at all, there will be familiar combiners in TF: HEROES at some point or the next line.

But the liklihood of 'Masters with Nebulons (or Pretenders) seems highly unlikely to me outside of minicon homages. So I figure Classics is the one place we might see these done with today's TF technology.

Personally, I'd be ecstatic with one Autobot and one Decepticon featuring each of the gimmicks. And I'd like for Spike and Daniel to get figures in the Classics line... And I imagine that the only way that will happen is with Headmasters. (Personally, I miss those head-activated tech specs under the secret panel too.)

That part I could do without...

GESTALTS!!

Headmasters and Powermasters were gimmicks I HATED as a kid - lose the little guy, and now you just have a stupid hunk of plastic. With Targetmasters, at least you still had a Transformer worth the name.

I voted Targetmasters, because a transforming weapon wouldn't mess with the larger figure's construction

And the orginal Decepticon and Autobots (i/e not Hotrod and co) where cool looking.

But I wouldn't mind headmasters because:

A) because the name made me lol once or twice

B) Wierdwolf, Skullcruncher and Mindwipe

C)Especially Skullcruncher, transformers needs more robots into Crocs/gators/gavial types*

*if only for Cybertron Jetfire to catch and place in his zoo, steruth!

instead of any Gestalts

none

gimmicks are for weak products which cant sell themselves on their own merits. A decent product doesnt need a gimmick or a flash advertising campaign.

Transforming? :eek

I voted Headmasters, but any "masters" would be called mini-cons. I do like the combiner team idea.

I would be soo over that if they were the giant size MArvel Legends version, and of course gave us Bludgeon in his Stormbringer look.
