that's like asking "Why does G1 Prime exist when we have Powermaster Prime?". i doubt that Hasbro had Alternators planned this far ahead when they made the first Ravage.

 

as for the toy, i like it but i'm under the impression that alts have been cancelled due to Takara bailling out.

Takara's not Bailing. Haven't you seen Kiss Convoy, Hot Rodimus and Autorooper? They even went out of their way to make Hot Rod superior to Mirage. Plus if they did bail, then Hasbro would have no new molds at all. Just more ugly WTF repaint characters.
