The plot thickens...

Although I still believe that there is something more to the chest plate, as the side connectors are the same type as those that clip into something & move. I could be wrong, though.

Transforming is the most used Transformers gimmick.

You beat me to the punch! :D

Accents which are rare amongst Transformers:

+ "Harvard Lockjaw" American English; Tracks is the only one that speaks this

+ Russian-accented American English; Cosmos is the only one that speaks this

+ "Upper-Class Massachussetts American English"; Beast Wars Megatron - at least, that's what it sounds to me. Similar to the kind of American English that Stewie Griffin from The Family Guy and that Niles and Frasier Crane speak on Frasier. It's certainly not any kind of British English.

+ Working Class New York American English; Rattrap is the only Transformer that speaks this.

+ Australian English; the only TF that speaks it is Outback - although it is clearly an American actor trying to sound Australian, the accent is unmistakenly supposed to be Australian.

+ Cockney English: Obsidian is the only Transformer to speak this

+ Kansai-ben Japanese; afaik the only TFs that speak it are Diver from BWII and Gusshar from Car Robot.

+ Ye Olde Feudal Japanese; The first was Sixshot from The Headmasters. The other is Tigatron. There might be a few other TFs that speak this language (not any others I can recall atm), but there wouldn't be many, as this is an extinct dialect of Japanese (much like Old and Middle English).

Fictional accents include:

+ Death's Head speech: it was peculiar, yes?

+ Dinobotese: Grimlock spoke this. In the cartoon, all the Dinobots spoke like this - based on stereotypical cartoon caveman 'tard speech which is littered with grammatical errors.

no, I think tigatron sounded more like a BLACK GUY.

...I never mentioned Tigatron. Blaster and Jazz's speech is clearly meant to be Ebonic American English (yes, that's the correct term for "black" American English).

Bluestreak/Prowl/Smokescreen---Nissan 280ZX Turbo "Fairlady Z"

It was also manufactured by Datsun.

Cliffjumper---Porsche 924

Actually' date=' Cliffjumper is a Porsche 944, albeit super-deformed.

Jetfire---F-14 fighter (remold of macross toy)

Jetfire is a VF-1S Super Valkyrie. Similar to the F-14 Tomcat' date=' but with a different canopy and undercarriage. Oh yeah, Tomcats can't transform whereas Valkyries can, although technically speaking Jetfire doesn't have the Gerwalk mode - although the toy is perfectly capable of transforming into Gerwalk mode... I display mine in Gerwalk mode because the shelf he's on is too small for the robot and the fighter mode takes up too much space (see pic below, far right)

Megatron----Walther P-38 Magnum (this toy is a replica of the Man from U.N.C.L.E gun)

Magnum isn't a gun' date=' but a brand of ammunition. Megatron is a Walther P-38 U.N.C.L.E.

Mirage---F-1 Liger JS11 (the OCTANE on the side is based on a real F-1 racer)

I believe the Liger JS11 was manufactured by Ford.

Optimus Prime---Freightliner Cabover

Kenworth.

Sideswipe/Red alert---Lamborghini New Countach LP 500S (there are real police countachs out there!)

Indeed. Italian highway patrol now also use Lamborghini Diablos' date=' just like Super Mach alert!

Slingshot---Harrier (?)

Yes, he is a Harrier.

Sunstreaker---Lamborghini Countach LP500S (debated)

It is a Lamborghini Countach LP500S' date=' but modified.

DreadWing & Cyclonus----B-2 bomber & F-22 (?)

They're not based on real jets. They're meant to be "futuristic" or "Cybertronian" jet modes.

Beast Machines:

Obsidian---Osprey VTOL

Whilst Obsidian's wings are similar to that of the Osprey' date=' it is a fictional helicopter, much like how Mirage is a fictional race car, even though it bears some resemblance to an F1 racer. Remember the context of Beast Machines and the Vehicons.

X-Brawn---Mercedes-Benz ML320 SUV

Yeah kinda. Hasbro modified X-Brawn's alt mode, so it is slightly different. Wild Ride is a more accurate scale replica of an ML320.

Towline & Sky Fire---??? towing vehicle & SU-27(?)

Sky Fire is a repaint of Machine Wars Skywarp and Thundercracker' date=' who are Saab Grippen jets.

Bumblejumper --- Mazda Familia 1500XG. Never heard of it? In English speaking markets it was sold as the Mazda 323. :)

wtf?! Something screwy is happening with the board codes... :tfmad

Goki, thanks, i fixed a few things in there, making lists like the one above will always have some errors, and on something this blurred the errors can be vast. I'm not sure why the hell I had magnum in there, I've written down Walther P-38 a million times...no magnum, shame on me, lol, good on your catch. Optmius Prime is a basis Frieghtliner due to minor errors in both the G1 and Diaclone molds. It is not a Kenworth, though Kenworth has more than borrowed parts and designs from several companies. This is one of those debates that will never be settled. I'll leave Jetfire as a f-14 since that's the basic inspiration for the Valkyrie mold, same for Obsidian and the Osprey. Also thank you for pinning down what Skyfire is! A familia was just another name Mazada 323 and the likes.

i didn't count, but that's what happens when you use to many individual quotes...

no, I think tigatron sounded more like a BLACK GUY.

He meant the Japanese one.

Although this isn't just transformers, but the 3 original gun robos from Microman were actually based off the Lupin the 3rd Series - P38(Lupin) Magnum (Jigan) and Browning (Fujiko). Now I just wish I can remember where I read that

Actually, Optimus Prime is a 1974 Freightliner COE Dual Axle.

Fun Fact:

Most early g1 cars were made to fit in Optimus Primes trailer! The launcher also is ment to work on them!

Didn't know that, I'll remember to give it a try some time. Some good links there.

-.`-'

beefkrtenz: Check out the pics on this page too! You'll notice that Diaclone Powered Convoy also had a Roller Buggy that, unlike Battle Convoy's (Optimus Prime's), could actually transform into a robot! A real shame that Ultra Magnus never came with this little robot.

Maximo: Wheeljack's accent never occured to me as being a NY accent before... but since you're American, I'll take your word for it. ;p

hmm whats that silver one?
