Interesting. If that's the case, then were all the transformers from 1984 originally didn't come with these stickers. And that they added that on later? I'm just trying to think things thru. Is that the case?

You are correct. The rubsymbols were added the second year, so any first year TF with a rubsymbol was actually made the 2nd year

So did the original transformers from 1984 have depressions where the rub symbols were suppose to be but there were no stickers? Or did they make new molds? Or for the 1984 and 1985 toys, they didn't have a depression for the sticker and so they just randomly placed them?

:tfhuh

from the few pre-rub TF's that I have i can not see any evidence of indentations. I know for a fact my bumblebee doesn't.

The indent space, or lack of, is not always an indication of pre-rub offs.

For example, if you look at all the G1 Aerialbots or G1 Galvatron (all series 3 of G1, a year after the introduction of G1 rub offs,) you'll see none of these toys have that aforementioned indent space.

Also, some waves G1 Throttlebots (which has this indent space) came sans rub-off, but with a typical insignia decal in the indent space.

The only vehicles that I know off the top of my head from the newer lines:

GalaxyForce/Cybertron:

Exillion/HotShot: Chrysler ME Four-Twelve (modified)

Autovolt/Crosswise: Bugatti Veyron (modified)

Soundwave: should be a highly Cybertronized F-117 Nighthawk, from the Have Blue prototypes

Other recent ones (basically all of them are modified nowadays...):

Blight/Kickback: Gepard AA Tank

Red alert/Cannonball: Dodge Magnum

Thundercracker/Skywarp: Sukhoi Su-35

Evac: Eurocopter Dauphin

Wing Saber: A-10 Thunderbolt

Lugnutz/Hightail: Harley-Davidson Road King

Downshift: A chimera of lots of muscle cars, but seems to borrow the most from the Plymouth Barracuda

Optmius Prime is a basis Frieghtliner due to minor errors in both the G1 and Diaclone molds. It is not a Kenworth, though Kenworth has more than borrowed parts and designs from several companies.

Holy crap dude, I think you're absolutely right! I'd never heard of a Freightliner before (maybe they're not a popular brand of truck in Australia - I see plenty of Kenworths and Mack trucks around) - but after punching it in Google, I'm now inclined to agree with you that Optimus Prime is indeed a Freightliner! Sweet.

no, I think tigatron sounded more like a BLACK GUY.

He meant the Japanese one.

Japanese Tigatron spoke in Samurai-esque feudal Japanese (hence why "Law of the Jungle" was called "らるタイガトロン" in Japan). Not what I would associate with Ebonic American English. ;p

Someone answer this question: Why do some dinobots have the rub symbol and some don't?

Does anybody know the answer. All I know is that there's two groups of dinobots, one with rub symbols and some that are pre-rub?

Anybody know? Are they worth the same or is one group more rare? I know it's a stupid sticker, but I love those stickers.

Because the rub-offs were introduced in late 1985 - around the time when the second series of G1 were introduced. You'll noticed that all of the Constructicons (released in the latter part of 1985) all have rub-offs, but the Dinobots didn't - that's because the Dinobots were among the first of the second series to be released, along with the mini-spies. You'll noticed that some mini-spies, i.e. Beachcomber, don't have the rub-offs as well.

My beachcomber I had (in the UK) when I was a kid had a rub symbol - difference between UK/US?

That's basically true - only the very first run of 1984 Transformers had no rub signs - but every run since then had them. So pre-rub sign TFs are quite hard to find, especially outside North America.

Of course, unless your toy is mint in package, it's virtually impossible to conclusively prove that it's pre-rub sign since those rub stickers can fall off.

:eek Hufferus Prime!

Heh... an alternative universe where in the episode "Heavy Metal War," Optimus Prime sustains fatal wounds. Huffer still volunteers to carry his trailer back to Autobot HQ, but shortly after arriving back, Prime begins dying and passes the Matrix to Huffer. Huffer leads the Autobots against Devastator and they get trounced... just as Devastator is about to finish them off... "Arise, Huffermus Prime!!" :D

...and Huffer goes "what? who said that?" Puts down Matrix to "find" the voice, Devastator steps on him and the Autobots die. The end. :D

Question: Apparently in the Transformers Generation Deluxe Catalog, Hun-gurr had the ability to change from two-headed dragon to robot and to something else. Don't know if it's suppose to be a repair bay or what? Does anybody have any ideas what that mode is suppose to be? From my knowledge, I don't believe that he was intended to be attached onto a battlestation (like motormaster to Trypticon).

Also, on the instructions of Metroplex, you can attach all four of the smaller aerialbots onto Metroplex's robot form. I believe this is suppose to give him the ability to fly? Is that true. Was that ever shown in the cartoons?

:tfhuh

Also, after the comment about Diaclone Ultra Magnus, now I'm tempted to pick him up.
