Yes! I'll see if I can post it in a bit.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I just started collecting these and have a question. i have bought 3 of the Booster Packs and today pulled a Megatron #16 on a chrome base. Is this Normal? Or do each of these come on a chrome base and a black base?

Each of the 18 figures / pieces has a chrome base that is considered super rare.

Essentially the rarity goes;

black base 1-8

black base 9-18

chrome base 1-8

chrome base 9-18

I've been waiting to start sell some of my extras (both chrome and black base), so if you are interested let me know :) I plan on starting a thread for them in the endcap if I can ever get the time

How much you selling yours for? They don't sell them here in Australia, so I'd be interested if the price is right. ;)

Here's my list of extras and needs...

My extras:

Hot Shot

Excellion

Scourge x2

Mini-Con x2

Insecticon x6

Rodimus x7

Decepticlone x2

Vector Prime x2

Ransack x3

Battle Ravage x4

Omnicon x7

Megatron (Jet Mode) x2

Landmine x2

Starscream

Scorponok

Super Optimus Prime x2

Super Rare chrome base Megatron

Super Rare chrome base Starscream

My needs-regulars:

Anything that isn't listed on the side of the Booster Pack, but isn't a Starter Set or has a Gold Base.

Oh and Super Rare's. I've got Scourge, Super Optimus Prime, Hot Shot, Starscream, Vector Prime, Insecticon, Omnicon, and Megatron, but I need more. I'll trade more than one of my extras for a Super Rare.

TF Attacktix are now out in Australia! I saw them at my local TRU and I grabbed one starter and three boosters. I've opened the starter and one booster and I read the quick start rules... and here's the low down...

The "Level 1 Quick Battle" rules are extremely basic and appears to be aimed at children who would not even be old enough to read yet and would be more likely to be more interested in trying to eat these miniatures. The objective of the game is to by the player with the last figure standing. Pretty simple. At level one, the game can be set up in 5 easy steps - so easy, you could easily teach a lobotomised chimp how to play (after all, normal chimps have been taught to play Blackjack and Poker).

1. Choose any 3 battle figures for your squad. ANY three! Watch the kids munchkin their squads up!! This is a pretty lame rule, but there is an errata for it between levels 1 and 2.

2. Line up figures about 3 feet apart. The rules don't tell you how long 3 feet is. Umm... *goes to Google* apparently it's 0.9m. Why don't they just make it a metre? Does that extra 10cm matter?

3. Youngest player goes first on each turn. Umm... judging from the age range that these rules are aimed yet, anyone who would be "younger" would still be breastfed.

4. Move as many of your figures as you want. You can move in any direction up to the number of "tix" (that's the number of times the base will click) shown inside the tix window. I must admit that this rule seemed unfair at first, because it means that whoever wins initiative - in this case, whoever is younger, always gets to mobilise their entire squad and outmanoeuvre their opponent. But the next rule kinda balances it out.

5. After moving, attack with 2 different figures. When a figure is knocked over, it's defeated and taken out of the game. Reload missiles at the start of your next turn. You could actually bait your opponent should they be foolish enough to move their entire squad - and place them in vulnerable positions. I like the idea of only 2 attacks per player per turn.

Okay, this is kinda like level 1.5 - it's technically part of level 1, but also leads onto level 2 rules. This is the rule of "Equal Points" and negates and erratas Level 1 rule 1, making the teams fairer. The rules of equal points are:

* Each player now starts the game with a squad that's worth the same total number of points; each figure's point value is listed on its base.

* 100 points is standard, but you can select any point value.

...this is a far more sensible method of building squad and is used in other miniature war games like Dungeon & Dragons Miniatures and Star Wars Miniatures.

"Level 2 Master Battle" - this adds two new elements into play: special powers and effects. Whenever your battle figure is defeated, turn it over to learn its special power.

* Special powers only take effect when the ATTACKTIX window under the base is white. Special powers take effect as soon as the figure is knocked down; if a power cannot be put into effect, your figure goes into the defeated area.

* Special powers can affect the defeated figure or any other figure... even those that aren't in play! The affected figure will be listed by name, Attacktix class or Transformers class. If the listed figure is not available, the power does not take effect.

* If a special power calls a figure back into play from the defeated area or your backup area, be sure to grind the figure (roll it forward a few tix) before putting it back into the playing area. Place the figure 2 tix away from your starting line.

* Watch the numbers in the tix windows as you move. If a higher number than usual appears, you may choose to stop moving and save the higher number for your next move.

Also, the Level 2 rules also introduce a far fairer system of determining initiative. It tells you to flip a coin. It basically works the same way that most other games work - use some binary method of deciding... rock, paper, scissors... roll a die... whatever. I'd probably roll a die... less likely to get a draw.

The defeated area can be anywhere. Usually off to the side of the playing area. The rules recommends that you keep your defeated characters separate from your backups so you don't get them confused.

There are some parts of the rules which I would probably house-rule against. They include:

+ The rules say that you are allowed to use more than one of the same figure. I would restrict this in saying that you cannot have more than one unique figure in the same squad. Most of these miniatures would be unique - non-uniques would be gumbies without names like Decepticlones, Omnicons and MiniCons. Any miniature with its own individual name (e.g.: Skyblast, Scorponok etc) are considered to be unique.

+ The rules allow you to mix factions. I would generally house-rule against this. You should be fielding either an Autobot or Decepticon squad.

Here are some of my thoughts after reading these rules:

+ This is certainly a VERY basic game. (-_-)

+ Hindering terrain is NOT an issue! I can't see how it ever could be.

+ The combat system of requiring one mini to knock down another is interesting. On one hand it is very crude and simple. But on the other hand, I can appreciate the simplicity. There's less margin for players to argue endlessly about rules.

+ Judging line of sight is marvellously easy!! Of course, it's going to be difficult for these miniatures to seek cover - and I would expect that there would be virtually no rules of stealth or speed bonuses/penalties (as I said before, I don't see how you could enforce rules of hindering terrain in this game). You can provide characters cover by using other miniatures as shields. The rules do state this. But this seems kinda cruel. If I end up really liking this game - particularly if I can find other players to play with me on a regular bases, I would be tempted to construct a 3-dimensional map with buildings, trees and other physical objects which characters can use as cover to obscure or obstruct enemy line of sight. In the mean time you can just chuck random objects in like a cup, book or Throttlebot. d:

Nice! They're holding a game/trade session at Botcon @ 7PM on that Friday.

I opened three boosters, and I got nothing but Autobots! Aaargh!!

Does anyone else feel that this game is seriously overpriced? (-_-)

I'm gonna see if my local gaming shop can order in a case for me... I hate buying boosters individually... too expensive and random.

I just played my first TF Attacktix game yesterday whilst waiting for my clothing to dry at the Laundromat and I must say that the game is actually a lot better than I'd expected. You guys should seriously try it.
