Why do the Autobots "fly" in the first few episodes of G1 and then later forget how?

Recommended Posts

The real answer here is that there IS no real answer. The writers just didn't care. However, if you want to be like Xbob and make logical guesses to fill in continuity errors, you could say that all Transformers could fly on Cybertron, but when they got to Earth the Autobots took on ground-based forms and slowly lost their ability to fly. The Decepticons, taking airborne/lightweight forms, never stopped flying.

It's not really a MTMTE thing, either. The Autobots sometimes flew in Season 2. So........... oh, nevermind. I'm getting a headache.

And we see them fly in their earth mode too. Then they forget.

Is this like one of those, "why does the chicken cross the road" type questions?

Nah. Although, I think it could turn into a pretty good "If Transor Z and Voltron got into a fight, who would win?" kinda things. lol

anyway who really cares, it was a cartoon. Enjoy it, don't obsess over it... discussions like this make me feel like I'm at an AA meeting sometimes

*is back on the wagon*

ya rly i mean it fit alot of plot defices for them to say OH NOES TEH AUTOBOTS CAN'T FLY and stuff. And by alot, i mean 1.

Pretend the first season never happened. This solves much of continuity.

...and forget Season 3 while you are at it.

Seriously, the Autobots flying in the first sesason is best explained by the Decepticons kicking them hard in the ass. Real hard.

They ran out of fairy dust that Tinkerbell had given them.

This is the most logical theory yet.
