What ever this puppy is, I'm guessing we have till the Summer or Fall to find out. Classics Prime sketch showed up and it took like a month for the Official pics to come out. The blurry pics were out even longer.

In my opinion that would suck.  I really hope he's not the same size as the other Alts.  He needs to be bigger, like optimus.  I really hope he's a masterpiece Megs with Alt homage (engine for a gun), of if he's an alt, he's larger (and at a different pricepoint). Of course if he's a straigh up Alt and he's bigger than alt prime, that wouldn't work either.  They are in a corner to do this right (multiple scaled alts gets pretty far away from the realistic credo that has been the calling card of the alts.

I was thinking he'd be in essentially the same packaging, but with the slightly bigger Alt Prime-sized bubble, more-or-less "alternator-sized."

A 1:35th scale M1 would transform into a robot about a foot tall - which would make a nice companion piece to MP/20th OP.  I just have the feeling that an "Alt" Megatron is going to remain at the same price-point.  Otherwise, they probably would have done "Alt OP" as a larger vehicle.

one: i dont care what it comes out as Alt/from movie, its cool, its got origanality  (did i spell that right) but it needs a Decepticon leaders worthy paint job. and as long as it knocks down buildings ill be happy :P if it is a hoax well iam used to geting my hopes crussed.

    i've read and browsed all of these posted and with the deal with the younger kids waching the movie its all right but i dont want this to before to young-of-kids, i want this to kick butt and thats not an experasion (kick a$$ take names) but not to brutal. Pirates of the Caribbean is a good EX. PG:13

    i think its all right to have a Megatron thats bigger than Optimus it just means the Autobots, perticuraly Prime, have to work harder, but it stills needs a few ajustments. If it is an Alts there is just something tells me it isnt one, i can see Megatron being a H2, threes to small. Thin-a-agian i could be wrong, thats nothing uncommon hehe.

oh yea! just a thalt, if this movie turns out to be a flop(which i hope it doesn't), Hasbro is going to be severaly screwd.

Oh, I am definitely taking this w/ a grain of salt. However, if it is a hoax, then I really hope that Hasbro is paying attn to the boards since this is a really sweet design. It is a perfect mixture of G1 and new design elements.

Given that this design has gotten more praise on message boards than any other TF that comes to mind in recent times (save maybe Masterpiece Starscream), Hasbro would be crazy to ignore the potential here!

 

Ha, if this isn't an official design it might become one now! (well, I can dream).

 

If it is official, and the fact that the engine clearly transforms into his arm cannon now supports that, then I for one am ready and willing to part with however much money it takes to get one.

 

Having said that... If he is indeed 40cm tall that would be almost twice the height of Masterpiece Starscream! I would kinda prefer the MP line of figures (or at least the ones we now know about) to be of almost equal height. Ho hum...

PS. That G2 colouring is horrible! I'd be hoping for grey or failing that this tan colour (but maybe with grey helmet?).

2 things:

 

  Alt. form components that transform into weapons does not an Alternator make! There are a number of figures that have this, Cybertron Soundwave and Lugnutz come to mind most recently, and such a feature is not series-specific.

 

  ALSO****** Has everyone forgotten about the rumors of a Jaguar coming down the pipes for the Alt. line, most likely for the form of Megatron!? There is *nothing* from the lines' past, present and rumored future to suggest that Has/Takomy will change the line to include non-real-world inspired, commercial automotive alt modes. There would be no reason to do it now, in the line's 3rd year of development, when we only *just* got a non-sportscar in Brodblast/Skids.

 

Masterpiece, maybe, but it would probably be something more for a mainline, and seeing as how megatron was just announced as a gun, the future's not looking to bright for this one. Not only that, but looking at the mass of it from alt mode to bot, I don't really see this as a workable design-- there's just too much mass to loose for the bot mode to work.
