Actually, I don't hate it.  I did this afternoon, but I've had some time to think it over, and while I'll admit it IS fairly half-assed, it's cool that we're getting a formerly BT-exclusive mold.  I really wish they had used the Smokescreen GT mold for Ricochet.  It would've made a lot more sense, with the gun and all.

 

I'm looking at my Alt Prowl right now, and it occurs to me that if I were somehow able to swap all the baby blue parts on Prowl with the black parts on Camshaft, they would both look 100% better.  Camshaft would look GREAT with the two different shades of blue, especially the legs.

That's a cool idea. I was about to paint my Prowl. *still might*

 

Does any one think it's cool that Hasbro has essentially given us Bluestreak? I used to think blue Prowl looked like Bluestreak but this is the next level of that idea.

Wow, repaint time already? Whatever happened to remolding? Sure, the sirens are gone and he's got another spoiler, but usually they try to make the robot head like the original counterpart. This head doesn't look like G1 Camshaft's head at all.

 

 

Having said that, I am, of course going to get this one . And I'm glad to get some more alt news.

Actually considering Camshaft was an old RX-7 originally, the RX-8 mold would be more than perfect for him.  There's an idea for a custom in there somewhere...

but the name never made any sence since the RX-7 and RX-8 have rotory engines thus no camshafts IMO the switch its a good idea

 

the colours are nice but i have BT blue prowl so im skipping this guy also putting the faction symbal on the leg is lame and a new head would of been nice

I'm still waiting for Red alert. I'm not going to make one until I'm certain Hasbro isn't.

Having had a look at the Acura website, there's isnt any color option available that actually properly matches Camshaft.  :roll

 

What next??  A  'Color it yourself' feature???

Not impressed with camshaft... I like the idea of the RX-8 version though... I soon as I find ALT Prime down here and later a Meister than there you go....CAMSHAFT!

^ had noticed. Also just realized I will have a spare Alt Prime head. Think I'll repaint the extra Prime head in the right colors and give that to Camshaft.

i thought i could have (buy) prime's head.

The box art has additional paint decos on the shoulders and shins.  It helps a LOT.  I'm wondering if the toy is an unfinished test shot, so the final version will look better.

 

And I know I shouldn't be shocked by this anymore, but WTF.  Compare the robot modes of Alt Camshaft and Windcharger (Overdrive) with their G1 counterparts.

Is it just me, or would Overdrive have been the better Acura and Camshaft the better Honda based on their transformation schemes?  Just taking into account G1 Overdrive's chest and legs, and G1 Camshaft's arms?  I mean, neither is a perfect match, but if you're going to do a half-assed obscure homage, they could've made them moderately less half-assed.

And that is my problem w/ the way the line has been going. I miss the real homages that made you immediately identify the new mold w/ a G1 character. This one doesn't look like anyone from G1 at all. And to top it off, now they are using another mail-away figure?!?!?! Gimme a break. I have no interest in this recolor (and don't even get me started on the whole recolor/remold thing).

My first impression was HOLY COW this guy is boring.  Come on, even with the additional paint apps revealed on the box art, this guy is seriously underwhelming.

 

Remember when 2nd decos were really unique?  Wheeljack?  Shockblast? Hello, Hasbro, please use your imagination!
