my recent purchase?which one?

the one you got off of ebay i believe...it was somewhere in one of these threads i believe...you were mad cuz it took 2 weeks to get him and you saw one for cheaper...but i might have gotten comfused

That was FreedomGundam.

Optimal Optimus rocks, one of the best of BW. But Primal Prime has an even nicer colour scheme but he fetches for quite a bit nowadays.

yes it was.

woops sorry

and yeah Tman i have been thinking the same thing for a while...thats why i havnt gotten him yet

Yeah, that was me, actually.  :D

Anyhow, he's a nifty figure.  A large one too.  I'm not too crazy about his "jet" and "car" modes, though, since those almost seem like an afterthought.  His beast and bot modes are pretty nice with lots of chrome all over.  He's definitely a step up from the TM1 Primal figure (which I wasn't all that crazy for), but I still think the original BW Primal (black gorilla) is still the best Optimus Primal ever (any of the BW/Universe/Reborn versions).

Right now I have one I found in a thrift market for $1.50. Didn't even know what the hell it was until I web researched him. All I have is the main vehical portion and nothing else. I can basically turn him into a gorilla and that's about it. The alt mode or whatever I can figure out is trippy at best. Would probably help if I had his cockpit section and arm sheilds. From what little I do have of him he's a pretty cool toy and I personally wouldn't mind eventially finding a comlete one.

Though I like it there are some things I absolutely detest about him. The construction overall isn't bad but I really hate the chrome plastic used for the transmetal pieces. Especially in the arms and shoulder area. It suffers from RID syndrome where it eventially fades but worst of all it has a real obnoxious squeel like sound when you move any of these pieces. Asside from that he has a lot of strange kibble hanging off of him that attribute to both his land/air modes. If you don't know this bad boy has four molds. Three alts including some strange land tank, a plane and the badass Gorrilla mold which is probably his most fearsome yet. Apart from that he turns into a pretty impressive bot with a totally seperate head. Can't really comment though since mine can't.

As said I think he's worth getting despite it's flaws and who knows it might turn you on to the whole beast side of TFs. :thumb I never was much into them either until I endcapped a Magnaboss. After that everything changed. :thumb

is this guy as cool as everyone makes him out to be.....im anti munky, but the more pictures i see of him the more i want him.......wich brings me to my next request...can anyone post some pictures of him in his different modes and different poses...because i keep thinking of getting him

I wouldn't get this toy. Reason being that all his modes are mediocre - normally with a toy, quality control notwithstanding, you would get one strong mode and one weak mode (i.e. Cybertron Thundercracker), both modes are strong (i.e. Alternator Jazz), and both modes are weak (i.e. Energon Optimus Prime - main cab) - with Optimal Optimus, it's hard to pinpoint which mode, if at all, is strong.

His "Transmetal Ape" mode is weak. He's riddled with kibbles that makes for an unconvincing robotic lifeform, much less an ape.

His "Battle Armor Carrier" mode looks like somebody stuck an exercise wheel between his hands while getting him to get down on his knees. Not at all convincing.

His "Jet" mode is akin to having a pair of wings stuck to a brick. Nuff said.

His robot mode is arguably his best mode, though that's not saying much. He looks like somebody used him as a Stretch Armstrong toy and somebody whupped a gun battery over his head which is now stuck on his neck.

Plus, the garrish colours on him is just terrible. I'm amazed how much people bitched about the color scheme on Cybertron Megatron but with Optimal Optimus, you hear people saying "AWESOME" and "NEATO" on this chromatic catastrophe. I attribute this to the Optimus Prime worship syndrome.

Rationally, I would save your money on something better, like getting GF Galvatron/Optimus Prime, or an Alternator, or a meal at Taco Bell, than to spend money on this toy. IMHO, this toy should had been given more thought before production.

:tflaugh

Actually I'd recommend this one to anyone who either likes or can tolerate Energon Prime. IMO a lot more though went into Optimal Optimus then Energon Prime. Not to side with all the Energon hate but as much as I love the toy so much could've been done to make him so much better. Optimal Optimus unlike E Prime at least has a pretty intimidating gorilla mode and based on pics I've seen his bot mode is pretty well done also.

Couldn't find any pics of him on the link provided and the ones at the TF info site are mistransformed as hell. Especially the alt mold so here are a couple I dug up on my HD from a while back. :thumb

As for liking him only because it's Optimus. Jebus. A cool toy is a cool toy no matter who it is. :roll

I got primal prime cause of colors - I love the show though so it makes me want the god awful orange - in this gen though megs is far superior - the megatron dragon is one of the best megs ever - for a beast u can tell it is megs - I have the blue one - it was a target exclusive called cryotek but really tight - head is grey/silver like gen 1 megs - and for a beast his arm is the dragon head which makes it look like a gun - a nice homage to gen 1 for a beast - but I think these two toys make me love the alt modes - normally I am a bot mode kinda guy - I keep primal prime ape almost always - since the color scheme is so convoy u can tell it is prime - and the monkey looks so kewl - arms bend and touch the ground and really look like an ape - megs dragon looks awesome - how they went to the beast machines dragon from this sick mold is beyond me - that mold sucks - tm2 megs is badass....recommend both...

Totally forgot about mentioning show accuracy but completely forgot.  :redface

Also. I agree Megs looks like a good buy too though I also wasn't crazy about his BM mold.

Actually, it's the show that is toy-accurate.

Most BW show models are toy-accurate as the CG models were all based off 3D scans of the toys themselves.

Here are some reviews on the toy:
