The repaints weren't really a gimmick, but for reformatting purposes, I hate them. If a character is being reformatted, give them a new body...YOU HEAR ME HASBRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's less "reformating" and more "powerup" Hoist and Roadblock are how Armada and Energon handeled reformating

i suppose aside from actionmasters (because it's a given...i won't even consider animorphs :puke ) i would say powerlinking (energon), because 98% of the combined bots looked like ass.

edit: and it also hurt the designs of the individual robot modes.

imo.

Powerlinxing. Nothing really new. And most looked crappy.

On the money for the most part. The bots were "okay" on there own but powerlinked most of them were unstable, littered with kibble and for the most part WTF.

Powerlinking easily gets my vote.

I've really grown to appreciate minicons on there own. Remiscent I guess of the Micromasters I never had.  :redface

I also really liked the Energon weapons and stars and so with they could have been issued as accessory packs. The Cybertron gimics don't even bother me that much either. The feature rarely if ever detracts from the overall toy or articulation and as useless as the Cyberkey is just do like me and toss them in clear plastic bag with any other bits and pieces you find you don't need. :thumb

Other - Action Masters

(1) Transformers who don't transform. Teh ghey.

(2) They're not even terribly good action figures! Limited poseability... uh, what's the appeal for buying these toys??

(3) They came to dominate the 1990-1991 Hasbro lines.

...Action Master Elites weren't much better. Oh look! They transform... badly!

Transform and be mispelt, Omega Spreem!!

Got to say they have always looked like knockoffs especially that one of Omega!

Actionmasters was the main cause of the end of G1.  Well that and marketing or lack there of.

That - plus the average TFan started driving (1990 for me) and discovered girls :luv

Head Masters. Once you lose the Head, Game Over, This toy sucks *trash'D*

When I lost HiQ, that wasn't such a big deal.

I would have chosen a lot of the options.  I thought the Mini Con gimmick wasn't used very well, the Energon Powerlink and Stars gimmick was very poor, deluxe Energon Prime combining with himself, not one to see after eating.  The Force Chips gimmick is pretty poor so far, once the gimmick is unlocked, some can be easily done without the Force Chip, then the chip is useless.

I also have to agree that a lot of the Prime combining with his parts/others gimmicks are usually pretty poor with the exception of GF/Cyb Prime who looks good combined with his back parts.  Also I hate the electronic sounds that a lot of TF's get.  They should just leave out a lot of those electronics and make the toy itself more appealing for kids.
