he kinda was...cause after that unicron had control over him and made him do his bidding....and his little helpers were changed from his servants to unicrons....though dont get me wrong he was more powerful and stuff...but it was like skeletor in the new masters of the univers...when hordack changed keldor (sp) into skeletor he was able to do that super migraine stuff to his head and get him to do whatever he wanted..or hed die......now you ask me thats some messed up $h!t and i would consider myself violated

 

and on the note of this topic.....i dont know much about BW as i never liked it so much....but didnt megs find the original body of megs and link with his spark or whatever and thats how he became the big transmetal dragon...that was such a cool toy,wich i wish i still had...im probly wrong about all this...but if im not that alone should be enough to show that they wernt the original megs....how could he find his body and spark if it was him...and also wasnt one of the messages on the disk from him too?...i know that the maximals found primes body with his head all blown to crap sitting in th chair and they had to link the sparks or whatever...or was it the matrix?....and i believe this is how he became optimal optimus

BW Megatron is not G1 Megatron.

 

First of all, Megaplex - Megatron's clone (who was commonly referred to as "Megatron") was killed himself to prevent Straxus' mind from taking over his body.

 

Secondly, BW Megatron renamed himself Megatron after he discovred the Golden Disk. So he wasn't created with the Megatron name in the beginning.

 

Thirdly, if BW Megatron was the same being as Megatron, then there would be no effect from merging his Spark with that of G1 Megatron's. The idea was that TM Megatron was upgraded to TM2 Megatron because his Spark came in contact with a more powerful Spark - G1 Megatron's. As Lord Madhammer pointed out, if BW Megatron was the same being, even just a clone with no memories, then his Spark would be of equal power of G1 Megatron's, and G1 Megatron's Spark would not power BW Megatron's Spark up. In fact, if BW Megatron = G1 Megatron, putting the two Sparks together is more likely to create another time-storm as we saw at the end of The Agenda.

 

All canonical evidence tends to support the notion that BW Megatron and G1 Megatron are separate beings. There is virtually no evidence to say otherwise.

In Japan, only the bat Primal (Convobat) and croc Megatron (Megalligator) are stated to be G1 Prime and Megatron - these toys/characters are considered to be separate from Beast Convoy and Beast Megatron, which as X-BoB has already pointed out, are separate characters.

 

If you think about it, Galvatron never discussed himself as being the original Megatron.  Even in the movie. Galvy-"Ultra Magnus! I will crush you, like Megatron crushed prime" UM-"And you'll die trying..."

So he's referring to himself in third person. He's not actually saying that he's not Megatron. In fact, there have been certain moments in G1 where Galvatron has openly admitted to the fact that he was Megatron - for example, whenever Galvatron has travelled back in time and met up with himself, he has always tried to make sure that he didn't kill Megatron. The first time was during Target:2006, where he met up with Megaplex (Megatron's clone) - whom he (and the rest of us at the time) believed was the real Megatron, and so whilst he buried him and Soundwave under a heap of rubble, he was careful in not actually destroying Megaplex -- just incapacitating him long enough to keep him out of his way. Another Galvatron was later forced back into 1990, where he met up with Megatron - who had just been separated from Ratchet by Fixit and although Galvatron initially started clobbering Megatron, he soon realised that he had to keep Megatron alive and quickly forged an alliance with Megatron, and even protected him from anyone who would try to harm him, like Shockwave (cycloptic freak).

 

As I've said, BW offers nothing that conclusively suggests that BW Megatron is the same being as G1 Megatron, yet it does state that they are separate beings -- evidence already cited by other posters on this thread.

afaik, it's never been revealed. But Megatron did state that he learnt of the name Megatron from the Golden Disk and named himself Megatron in honour of the former Decepticon tyrant.

i have a theory that it was actually Megabolt since BM Meg's second form was called Megabolt Megatron.

Actually they were. The japanese made several changes to Beast Wars. The show was exactly the same but a few characters were portrayed different, like Airrazor was made male. And Primal and Megs were made out to be the originals. Its kinda like in GF Nitro Convoy is a male, but C made Override a fem

 

 

TM2 Dinobot had none of Dinobot's spark in him, so he was only a "clone" in the sense that he had the original Dinobot's data tracks uploaded into him

 

 

He also had his DNA( and before someone leaps in, BWs characters had DNA)

I'm sure there's DNA in the living tissue that forms their beast modes.... but that's it

 

Anyway, Dinobot's body was incinerated at the end of "Code of Hero".... not much left to clone. The presence of the TM2 raptors in the episode prior to "Feral Scream" was meant to indicate that that's where Megatron got the DNA from.
