I always found Outback to be deeply offensive.

as a kid I never really paid attention to the characters accent.

the only country that hasn't upgraded to the Metric System yet, eh? :P)

:pfx I keep waiting for the US to switch to metric system.  Hence I have no idea when somebody asks for 2 pints or quarts or whatever.

On topic, I don't know about G1 stereotypes, but EVERYONE from the end of Energon to Cybertron is speaking with what seems like an Austrailian take on English.  What's up with that?  BTW, by everyone I mean only quite a few.

Oy mate, you're dissing the OzFormers mascot, there! :D

I don't find him terribly offensive - the voice actor is trying to make him sound Australian. No, it's not authentic - but neither is Perceptor's supposed English accent. But it was in no way degrading... what would have been offensive would've been if Outback tried to talk like some redneck Bogan, like Steve Irwin. Thank Primus we never heard him use any bad Aussie stereotypical words like "Crikey!" or "G'day" (when was the last time you ever heard anyone say that?!).

I find Steve Irwin to be a far greater insult to the Australian identity than Outback.

Having said that, I think the voice actor for Obsidian could pull off a nearly flawless Australian accent if he tried. Obsidian's accent isn't Australian - it's Cockney... but Australian English evolved from Cockney, hence why I think Obsidian's VA could pull off a convincing Australian accent.

I've never watched the Cybertron dub (I avoid dubs like the plague), but I have heard that Doomlock has a really bad try-hard (that's Aussie for "poser") Australian accent.

yeah obsidian and strika had home counties English accents. (which curiously enough is like how i speak all except my accent has Yorkshire twang about it)

in G1 curiously i always saw Onslaught's accent as being slightly English

(people who say British accent need to check out how many dialects there are between scotland, england and wales)

Yes, G1 Onslaught did indeed have an English accent.

I found SkyLynx the one with the most obvious British accent in G1

If G1 didn't depend of Stereotypes then the writers would actualy have to be creative :eek
