a topic about nationality stereotypes

Cosmos was supposed to be a Peter Lorrie impression. Peter Lorrie was German, he just had a wierd voice. Ren (from Ren and Stimpy) was also a Peter Lorrie impression. Compare the two.

If G1 didn't depend of Stereotypes then the writers would actualy have to be creative :eek

Did the writers determine the characters' accents?

My initial thought would be ..... NO.

By the way X-Bob, Whether they were to your liking or not, a lot of the G1 shows had quite a bit of imagination.  Otherwise how would they come up with all those WTF episodes you like to rip on?

I guess you could say that episodes like "Child's Play" were imaginative.........

but honestly, I liked G1 better when it wasn't all gimmicky with the plots.

For those watching at home, that'd be "Season 1".

by season two the writers had gone into the "introduce toys and weapon of the week mode"

BTW I reeeeeally am not getting the Peter Lorre connection with Cosmos. If that was meant to be him, it's the worst impression ever.

It's not really a good impression.  Much the same way that Prime isn't really a good John Wayne impression.

I'm really surprised you can't hear it.

writer #1: we need an explanation of how where unicron came from.

writer #2: hmm, maybe a creature?

writer #1: good idea, but what kind of creature?

writer #2: *looks at star wars episode 5*, what about that yoda character?

writer #1: but he's already used in star wars.

writer #2: so we just change him, so nobody'll recognise him.

writer #1: yes, yes, excellent idea. you're brilliant!

*they begin to write call of the primitives*

nuff said'd!

it's a most likely fact that if call of the primatives wasn't the best animated show in tf history then it wouldn't be liked so much.
