Yup. Wheelie dies. The Junkions thought he was a malfunctioning Teddy Ruxpin doll and gutted him in order to fix the vocal gizmos. They took out too much and now Wheelie is a mindless automaton that takes out the garbage on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

I officially call bullsh*t on all the "G1 was awesome until season 3" comments. To my mind, G1 started running out of ideas somewhere around the middle of the second season. If they hadn't introduced the combiners they would have had nothing but ghey episodes about Giant Space Boy Erin and worshipping Astrotrain and jousting with Decepticons and what not.
