I hate GF/C-Megatron's personality.

Recommended Posts

i think that the toy is great but GF/C-Megatron is everything that's wrong with the modern decepticons: a bunch of stupid, arrogant thugs without a single brain cell between them who constantly rely on nothing but brute strength and raw power, dispite the fact that doing so always gets their asses handed to them on a silver platter.

How is that any different then G1 Megatron.  :roll

The original Megatro IMO was a complete dumbass for the most part. His minions were thugs, he always confided in the one Decepticon who would always jump at any opportunity to screw him over, and he turned into a gun of all things. Ah, okay so the gun bit was Hasbro's doing and I had to throw it in for the hell of it but as a militant leader Megatron was one of the worst. All he ever did was come up with some dumbass plot/device/weapon to defeat the Autobots, and despite fair warnings from minions obviously smatter than him continually failed miserably and was repeatedly PWN3d.

BW/BM was definitely a step up and I've always thought of everything to follow, with the exception of Rid Megatron, a continuation of that character. The only diference is he's not quite as unitentionally funny in the Armadaverse.

IMO Armada Megatron was the most incompetent leader in Decepticon history.

ive hated every megatron character after BM....you just cant beat such an awsome character.  solution? North American made transformer shows!

Not a bad idea.

The problem in Japan - and I have seen the Japanese fandom complain about this - is that the stories are all infantile. The shows are not just aimed at a younger audience, they are aimed at a stupid younger audience. As Michael McConnohie said in the G1 DVD interview, children aren't as stupid as some adults may think they are... the thing that I've disliked about the post-G1 Japanese cartoons is that they talk down to the audience. Not only would this frustrate children, but it also does nothing for the adult audiences.

The Canadians were onto a willing formula with BW/BM with a story that both catered for younger and older audiences.

My suggestion? I say we take the Transformers show back to its formulaic roots - have a North American or British (who wouldn't love a series written by Furman?) written script with Japanese animation.

GF megs is the best nmegs in a while.... he's got some frigging teeth to him!

Excuse me, but every word you just typed there is utter and complete bullBlot.

The stories in Armada, Energon, and Cybertron, are deep, rich, and epic. They touch upon themes such as war, hatred and prejudice, and free will vs. blind loyalty. For an example, Unicron is portrayed here as being a manifestation of all the hatred, rage, and prejudice from the Transformers wars. Every act of violence nourishes him, yet tragically enough, warfare is an unevitable, constant element on Cybertron because the Autobots and Decepticons spent nearly all their lives locked in war. Especially for the Decepticons who literally lived for the battle and conquest, war was the only life they really knew. That's largely why they detested the peace between Armada and Energon, and why they were so eager to rejoin Megatron upon his revival.

Unfortunately, the Autobots aren't immune from this, either. At the end of the Unicron Battles of Armada, Galvatron was taunting Optimus Prime that they fought far too long to ever live in peace, that they needed to end their rivalry once and for all or everything they've ever done would've been in vain, that as long hatred exists, Unicron will continue to exist, and reiterating that deep down Optimus is a war machine and his purpose in life is war. Optimus then chooses to act on his hatred and anger and fights Galvatron, rather than try to continue the peace he was previously preaching. This battle of course revitalizes Unicron, and ends with Galvatron sacrificing himself while Optimus floating in space full of guilt.

Wow, a Transformers series that arguably ends with Optimus Prime looking like the villian, and Megatron the hero. How "infantile." :roll

And then in Energon we have the tragic story of Alpha Q, who, along with his planet and people, the Terrorcons, was devoured by Unicron, and then revived inside his dark and cold body after his defeat during the Unicron Battles. A traumatized and terrified Alpha Q then creates three alternate personalities to help him cope. He then recreates his Terrorcons, and his friend, Scorponok to retrieve energon because he believes that Unicron has the ability to recreate his homeworld. He succeeds in recreating his homeworld, but loses Scorponok to Megatron, and dies trying to fend of Megatron/Unicron, only to have his planets destroyed by Unicron in his Black Hole form by the beginning of the next series. And then there's Shockblast who kills several background characters, including Decepticons who were trying to help him, and Wing Dagger's friend, Padlock, for essentially NO reason at all, bullies the other Decepticons, and plots to overthrow Megatron, but ultimately dies essentially a hero's death by making a defiant stand against Megatron/Unicron. And of course, there's his younger brother, Six Shot, who seeks to eliminate Galvatron, but not because he wants to replace him as leader, but because he wants to liberate all the Decepticons from Galvatron, and instead wants them to be free to do anything they want, but unfortunately he only recieves that freedom in death.

Oh yeah, that's really "infantile," uh huh. :roll

Seriously, Energon's story is fairly down beat and melancholic, and sometimes even almost approaches Cowboy Bebop or Fullmetal Alchemist in depressing plotlines.

And just how the hell is Armada's Megatron the most incompatant Decepticon leader ever? He spent 75% of the series winning the war, and he conquered Cybertron without a virus, nor was he tied to the back of the winning parties escape shuttle. Infact, it can be argued that the only reason he even lost was because of Unicron.

Really now, it's clear that you really don't have any idea what you're talking about. What you said may hold true for RiD, or 95% of the Blotty anime that's airing on Cartoon Network like Duel Masters, Zach Bell, or Naruto, but not with the current Transformers series.

The fact is, that Armada, Energon, and Cybertron are the best Transformers series ever made.

Oh, god a blind fanboy.... *Shakes head.*

edit: that doesn't mean your statements are without merit... in fact, much of it is true. however, there's such a HUGE bias on it you wouldn't be able to tell unlessy ou alreayd knew!

and armada sucks. watch the japanese version or sometihng, it's better.

keep in mind that is shown to be a flaw of his throughout the series, and in many ways in his consistant downfall. it's his major flaw.

As well, i'd like them to stop using that sort of blurred, semi-mechanical sound ON TOP of david kaye's voice as megatron.....it just ticks me off  and takes away from the character.

they'd be breaking tradition if they did. each TF series other than BW and BM has had flanging(i believe that how it's spelled.) on each transformer.

Megatron can defeat him, if Optimus didn't cheat all the time.

He's not cheating. The fact is, that Optimus is too weak to beat Megatron. We've seen it all throughout the series. But the point he also has been trying to make throughout the whole series is that he has a team, comrades, friends. They care about each other and will fight to defend each other. Their teamwork can defeat evil unlike Megatron where all he cares about is being the most powerful in the universe and recreating the universe as he sees fit. Megatron doesn't care about his lackeys and thinks that if they're too weak to survive then that's their problem. Which is exactly why he can't win. He is still an awesome character though who doesn't give up even after all his subordinates ditch him.

Lord Gyconi I understand where you're coming from. All three IMO have great storylines that aren't infantile at all. But the fact is that the crapy dub of Energon just makes it hard to bear and look past to see the great storyline which is precisely why I'm rewatching the series right now as Superlink. A lot of the more moving elements in the story are coming up from where I am, but the whole scene where Galvatron (I prefer the Superlink names) is turning Inferno into a Destron really is a great scene, telling him to hate and detest him, the true signs of becoming a Destron.

Another not so "infantile" part of the Armada story is the whole Hot Shot/Wheeljack thing. They were really good friends, Hot Shot was Wheeljack's mentor and in a Decepticon attack Wheeljack got trapped in a fire. Hot Shot wanted to save him but he was ordered back and couldn't do it. Wheeljack, about to die was saved by Megatron. Indebted for his life he serves Megatron but also seeks revenge on Hot Shot who he thinks abandoned him to die but in reality he was just not able to save him although he wanted to. Not very infantile to me. Although I do wish that TV-Nihon subs Micron Legend because I heard it had better animation in some scenes and my assumption is that it doesn't have the terrible voice mix-ups (one episode in Armada Demolisher had Hoist's voice for the whole episode) or the frequent screw up of Minicon names (Leader-1 was called Sparkplug many times if I recall correctly). Also Smokescreen getting blasted by the Reqium (Sp?) Blaster was pretty awesome.

But stating that it's a fact that these new shows are the best is just wrong. It's all just opinion. These are all great shows but I still prefer Beast Wars and Beast Machines to them.

Oh and Naruto rocks kthnx.  :thumb

Yeah, other than the voices, the dubs aren't all that great, and I do wish that Hasbro and Voicebox would re-dub them to fix all the errors, but the story and characters still came through, and it still has a few occasional good lines. ("Oh yeah, I'm surrounded by the enemy too. Yeah, I can't move. Sorry, I can't help you either, listen, call back in a hour.")

Besides, with my shoddy and outdated computer I have no real way to watch Superlink, anyway. (And Energon-Ironhide having any other voice than Matt Hill would be a sin.)

Fanboy arguements- BAH!

Why don't all the Gen1 fanboys go back into your gen1 bubble and stay the frak there!

Master Megatron was the best protrayal of Megatron yet! nough said!
