Is Optimus Prime a bully?

While watching a recent TF Cybertron episode, Crumplezone and Ransack came accross Optimus and wanted to fight him. Right from the beginning, Optimus went all *SUPAH MODE TRAAAAAAANNNNNNNSFOOOOOOOOOOM* and kicked the living crap out of them.  :wtf

Isn't this the leader of the good guys here? He should be able to even take on and beat Starscream and the other grunts without having to combine first.

Then I started thinking about past episodes / series... Armada, Energon, even RID. He always seems to jump right to super mode and overkill the small dudes when it isn't necessary.

Why? Shouldn't he only offer as much resistance as he receives from his enemy? Even in the recent match with Scourge, Optimus had to use Leobraker to win a fight. Not very "super" of him to go into super savage claw mode in a one on one duel for leadership IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Optimus Prime character - but I don't remember GEEWON optimus having to use extra stuff to fight his battles. Or even the BW Optimus Prime(s) for that matter.

Just my thoughts.  :wave

Optimus Prime-"Freedom is the Right of all sentiant beings, now wheres that cage for Nightbird"

:rofl

Yeah, Optimus Prime is one of the biggest jerks in cartoon history. I hate people, real or otherwise, who says one thing and does the other.

Look at the way G1 Optimus Prime treats the Dinobots. The way he locked up Ravage (outside in a cage) while the Stunticons gets to be locked up inside the Ark. Of course, in "Megatron's Master Plan," he had no problem inflating his ego at the parade during "Autobot Day."

So if somebody don't believe in his "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings," what then? Blow them to bits? Sound a bit like ol' G. Dubya to me.

I can't believe people sees this jerk as a hero.

The combining with someone else to one a one on one duel thing is a bit mean alright.

I always thought it was funny how they kept the Dinobots in the dark in a broom closet or something. They'd open this door and the Dinobots would just be standing there. :lol No wonder they got pissed at the Autobots.

BTW Japanese cartoons are all about power. Nothing else. Power = good.

to be fair, G1 came on at the height of the Reagan years. back then, it was culturally acceptable for heros to act like Afterburners towards the villians.

and Madhammer, EVERYTHING is all about power, it's the only universal constant.

I'm not the one who pointed this out, but I think it's true: Japanese heroes tend to be defined by their power. Western heroes tend to be defined by the responsible use of power.

We've been dreaming of this one, and it appears a transforming K.I.T.T. will be coming as soon as August! It must be something big and or special with a $49. - Read the Full News Story
    • Tonight on GotBot Goes Live, we talked Transformers news for the newest multipack and some reissues. We also talked collaboratives with TMNT, an Ectotron reissue and, maybe, even Star Wars? Plus, we address the MP Ginrai teaser image and answer who is Riggorus?
    • EDIT 2: Okay, I think my real problem with this was the marketing image. The main image shows four robot turtles standing together, so I was ready for four toys, not one. Admittedly, I was so disappointed that I did not bother to read the article fully. That's my fault. I apologize. That said, now that I understand it is THE van that turns into a robot, not "robot versions of the four turtles," that makes more sense, but I don't get the four heads. There are images here of a bandana free head which I gather is not included. I would actually prefer a non-specific generic turtle head for the robot. I think that would remove a lot of confusion. At least for me. EDIT 1: My bad, I misunderstood. It's one toy with swappable heads. So, you made a thing based on a four member team, and you only want to sell one toy? You're not even trying to get people to "Collect all FOUR!" You do understand how toy sales work, right? Original Comment: This is a perfectly fine idea executed TERRIBLY. You made four unique toys, each specific to each of the Ninja Turtles, that all turn into the same vehicle? It would be one thing if they joined together to form the van. There have been transformer sets like that before. This is just wasted opportunity. Not to mention, that van exists for the turtles to ride in together as a team, so if they can turn into vehicles ... what do they need a van for? I get that that's their van, and that's cute and all, but ... this is just dumb and disappointing. Why not think about what kind of car each of them would drive based on their personalities, or ask some car company if they want to do a tie-in promotional? What do I want with four copies of the same van and no one to ride in any of them? It makes no sense.
