Cybertron Soundwave

Recommended Posts

you know actually I hope they do a new price point if that is the only way to keep the toy the same.

sound wave, if at a voyeger price point would make him the best voyeger for the money. But because he comes w/ all of these cool extras he might end up being a mega.

A gap in the toyline is just what I need to get caught up in the next year. :clap

Reguarding Soundwave I think they should keep him as is and release hin as an Ultra. When you think about it both Autobot Ultras in the Energon line were basically Deluxe sized toys with added accessories to make them Ultra class. The same could be said for Soundwave. I think with Laser beak and the added accessories he warrants a higher price point.

Truth though is fans/collectors want this toy badly and will buy it reguardless of price point. Also  if Hasbro crapped out on the paint aps and gave us another Cybertron Vector Prime they'd basically be shooting themselves through the foot because they'd again lose out to Takara from fans who would rather have superior paint apps/colours than a half assed attempt to reduce costs. I would if I could afford it. :tftongue

Damn straight, that is exactly why I bought GF Vector Prime a few months ago and I don't regret it. I would much rather pay a little more to have a superior figure in my collection that will look great for many years, than to cheap out and buy a POS that looks terrible from the day I get it. Here's hoping Hasbro doesn't make me go out and import GF Soundwave (already spent 2x as much on GF Primus b/c I am impatient).

I hope they dont cheap out. Sigma 6 Heavy Duty is way bigger than the other Joesand is still the same price and is highly detailed.

"Size" isn't really the best way to compare prices. A better indicator of costs is complexity/number of parts. Does Heavy Duty have as many accessories as Storm Shadow or Snake Eyes?

Vector Prime is a bit taller than Jetfire, but Jetfire has lots of ratcheting joints in his arms and legs that require more pieces.

Also I'd guess Soundwave is more likely a summer/fall 2006 release, he shows up in the show well after Nemesis Breaker and CD Scattorshot, so he'll probably be near the end.

Jetfire was huge. Hence why it needed the bigger packaging. ;)

A better analogy is Scourge/Leobreaker. Both are pretty much the same size.. but to pose them in an "appealing" way, scourge takes up more room.

What? I'm talking about cost of an item, not how they're packaged. My point is too often people just think robot mode height=size=cost. Jetfire is really only huge in wingspan.

Scourge/Leobreaker may be around the same size, but then the parts for Scourge's extra dragon heads and their ratcheting joints is what increases the cost.

The internals do affect overall cost, yes, but in the end it's how they are packaged that determines the final MSRP.

Believe me. If Hasbro wanted to, they could've packed E. Wing Saber as a $30 fig.. They even ordered the guy who designed it to make it in such a way that it had to be. But in the end, they packaged him in "pieces," getting him into the $20 price point.

It really is a mix of the two. IMHO, CDRA could've been packed as a $20, easily... but they chose not to. There is absolutely nothing in CDRA that puts him above the other $20's in the line, other than maybe his overall width.

well i imported the GF soundwave. got him for $40 with shipping. was totally worth it. SOOO glad i nabbed it. and i just cant wait for the soundblaster fig...  :clap

Very much.  I imported Vector Prime, Soundwave, Noisemaze, all the planet leaders, Starscream, Megatron, Optimus, Liger Jack, and Sonic Bomber.  I got GF Fang Wolf and First Aid as gifts for my bday this year.

And I like you am impatient for Primus and preordered him from JRS Toyworld for 2x what he'll cost domestically, but with the paycheck that I get weekly, I can afford it.  Though if I could, I would keep all my purchases domestic, but damn it all Hasbro has to go and be cheap on some figures, which is why certain ones that did get imported, did.  *looks at my glorious GF VP like eye candy*

The size of the box it's put in does not determine the MSRP. When a $20 toy is designed they stuff it in a "Voyager" box. Toys are planned/designed with a certain pricepoint in mind. Fitting it in that pricepoint's box is just about the last step.
