Question for you. It looks like the model kit you are using, the front doors are molded into the cab, are you planning on having operational doors or leaving them molded into the cab?

I'm thinking about a kitbash as well, and the model kit I'd be using the doors are molded into the cab similar to yours. I would prefer to have actual doors, not only for the alt mode but I was planning on having them open in bot mode. How would you tackle that situation, if at all? Thanks for any info you could provide.

Btw, your custom here is looking really good (other than being a Ford truck, lol)

i really like this one lobo. I love how the cab is comin along, and the reshell prgram really works well fo this one....  Cant wait to see how well this comes out. Are you going to use the Swindle head??

One concern I have with molds with beefy front ends (like the Scion, or the upcoming Ram) is that everything else, especially the head and arms, look really wimpy in comparison. Is there any chance of adding some mass to the arms and having a slightly larger head for this beast?

By the way.... you so totally rawk!  :thumb

Out of curiosity, are you going to have enough room to fit the doors between the hood and the truckbed, or are you going to be shaving the doors down to accomodate? It might look like you have to add an extender in the torso to fit the doors in his truck alt.

I'll use the stock doors and mounting locations and basically attach the model door to it.  On this one I'll have to make it a slider like most Alts so the doors will open properly.  You're right about the torso.

The doors were molded into the model kit.  I used an Exacto knife and cut out the doors along the panels lines.  Basically just run the tip of the blade along the line over and over, scraping away the plastic until it cuts through.  Watch out your fingers!!

You know, I kind of like this one so far.  The shoulders are a little wider giving him a little stronger looking stance.  As far as the arms, I think on this one it looks good.  The arms on Hounds mold are pretty beefy as it is.  Just wish they had better articulation.  The big thing is the head.  I haven't gotten it mounted yet but I put on the head off of my Alt Inferno and it didn't look so hot IMO.  I planned on using a remolded head off of Swindle.  I think if I mount it properly, as opposed to just sitting there on the hood,  it might not look to bad.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!  :thumb

A few more pics.

Heres a shot of Alt mode so far.  Doors are taped in.

Here's another problem.  The wheel base on the truck is about 6mm longer than the Jeep.  I'm going to have to make a connector piece somehow.

And yet another problem.  This time it's too much kibble.  The truck model is an extended cab and it doesn't exactly fold up quite as well as I hoped it would.  Plus all the extra crap on the back almost tips the thing over.  One solution I came up with is to get rid of the extended cab all together.  This would also help with the wheelbase issue.  The worst part will be trying to cut it right so the doors match the cab.  I'm goint to try it when I get back from Thanksgiving.

Thanks again everyone!

That is..... PERFECTLY DELICIOUS!!! Might I ask... are you going to paint it orange or yellow in the end?

Caterpillar yellow with black hood.

Sweet, thanks for the tip, that makes perfect sense. This would be my first attempt at a kitbash, so I really appreciate the advice.
