:wave Who'da thunk I could make a thread that would keep going like this?

i buy my Tfs and transform them and display'em!  I sometimes ttransform them, if there not in a sticky situation, IE displayed with smaller figs that might cause a chain reaction/domino effect.  The only ones I have not opened so far are my binaltechs and my takara reissues.  My binaltechs i will open soon, cuz i am missing out, but my takara collection will be sealed forever!!!

I got a misb 20th prime that my mother inlaw got me last year and she asked that I never open it.

*looks at her barbie room*

also got soundwave and thunderblast(chromia). I will honor her wish and never open prime, but on christmas day the sw and chromia are gonna breathe! Anyway, sometimes you can't open boxes, but the ones I do open (90% of my collection)

I keep. though sometimes it is hard to resist opening!

Hey everyone. First off, I am new to the TFans forums (I've been reading for a couple months but finally broke down to chat it up). Howdy :)

 

 

Second, I was wondering, do you guys open your TFormers? For me each and every one is a battle. Eventually I either open it or lock it away in a box so that I'm no longer tempted. I just love to transform the suckers, and I don't think the value goes to heck TOO badly (I mean the broken G1 toys go for hundreds at conventions still).

 

So here I am, having made some good hauls in the last few weeks at a couple conventions and stores in the Seattle area. I have opened some, and not opened others.

 

What do you guys personally think of this issue? I'm not sure I would ever outright sell my transformers, but I'm not against trading them for ones I like more in the future, so does this diminish their value too bad?

Yeah, some figures can drop as much as half or more when opened. But it really depends on the figure. Something rarer or in more demand will retain value slightly better, though. To answer your question everything I buy gets opened unless I have a double. Transformers are the only figures out of the ones I collect that I know I will keep for a very long time and because of that I want to enjoy them for their transformery (new word,I swear it's real, go ask Colbert) goodness. Oh, and welcome to the boards! Watch out, though, some around here are bitter and like to bite!

The only ones I'm considering keeping in the boxes are the Commemorative TRU Exclusive Soundwave and Commemorative S3 Jazz that I got this last weekend for $40 each (was that a good deal BTW? They are pretty near mint unopened).

Sounds about right. You might not be able to find one of those comm soundwaves any cheaper than that anymore, and the price for jazz sounds about spot on.
