I got my alert together after a little fiddling but no problems after I played with it for a bit. I found it fit together a little better than my streak in the end.

 

That is right, creating my own version of the Black Tracks. One of a kind! ;)

i originally had no BTs...i have the US smokescreen which is number 8...then when I decided to collect bt i got the #7 of smokescreen...so i do have both numbers..just not both BTs. I also have BT07 in the number 2 version...dont know why i picked number  2...just did..i think it may have been cheaper then the #1 lol. I also did the same with meister and tracks...I bought the US white meister and blue tracks and bought the BT red meister and yellow tracks....THen for some reason i decided to get the BT versions of the blue and white...so now i have them as well and when prowl came out...I have both BTs and the Alt. The only double I dont have now in some form is the #1 bt-07 whichi could care less about....So yeah...i guess I am nuts.

I have all the versions because I have this disese called completitis. I have to finish a whole line or don't bother at all.

 

Don't even consider collecting these things for value. They will never be worth much more than their original selling price. Collect them because you want them. There are too many people importing these (myself included) to ever make them rare in NA. It is not like it was in the 80's when finding Japanese stuff on this side of the water was tough. There are too many people who buy these and then never open them. I have bought several BT collections to then resell them for around $30 or $40 CAD.

BTW, are there any other 'version' issues besides these

 

BT-01 - (smokescreen) #7 and #8 version

BT-07 - (smokescreen GT) #1 and #2 version

BT-06 (tracks) - blue and yellow version

BT-08 - (Meister) white and red version

BT-15 - (prowler) white police and blue version

That's it.

 

Fortunately, if the Skids/Blaster trend continues, it appears for upcoming releases if another straight-repaint is simultaneously issued (seemingly due to manufacturer color requests) than at least the other colored version will be a new character.

I really, REALLY wish HasTak would follow up on the precedent set with Smokes GT and start making more extra weapons to add to these guys.  I've got some lauinchers from Viagra Prime, a pair on Wheeljack and one on BT Swipe, but it would be nice if they made official weapons to add.  Yeah I know, trying to make everything fit into the car mode.  But I'm not really picky about that.  I like it when they look as good as they can in both modes, and if something has to be removed or added for that to happen it matters not to me.  These guys are supposed to be modernized G1's, so they need their guns.  (Yeah I know some of the companies like Honda don't like guns on Honda-based TFs because they're Pretenders.  All the more reason to bypass those companies IMO and go to ones who are more friendly to the robot soldier concept.)

You really can't go wrong with the RX-8 or Wrangler.

 

They're both very solid structurally and the least prone to paint chipping.

OK, maybe on the Japanese side there's no problem, but my Windcharger had to ahve a barrel made, and Decepticharger has none.  So somewhere between there and here the gun was neutered.

 

 

BTW I just got BTA Sunstreaker...  And MAN, is he Crap-Tastic!  The yellow plastic is cheesy and cheap-looking, the paint doesn't match (heard this from several people), some of the paint is applied VERY badly with the bare metal/undercoat(?) shining through, and he doesn't want to fit together right in car mode.  He's sitting right next to BT Dead End right now, exact same mold, different colors, and greatly superior quality.  I preordered BTA Broadcast earlier, and if this is the quality I can expect from this sub-group I will not be a happy camper.

For tha lack of Gun barrels on Alt Windcharger here in the states I've heard two rumors.

 

One, that it was a safety thing.  Which is possible.

Two, that Hasbro got lazy with Q/C and that barrels were made, but not very well and thus they scrapped them.

 

Which if either is true who knows.

 

Regardless I've only got to BTs currently.  Tracks, and Hound, oth rock, but BT hound is basically indistiguishable from Alt Hound.  So depends on where you want to spend your money there.  Me I jsut got out my tools and turned Alt Hound into G1 Hound so my BT would look different next to him, and let me tell you, those back seats are a Starscream to get out.
