Binaltech

Recommended Posts

I realized that BT-01 came in 2 versions.. the #7 and #8.    While the release of BT-07 seems like a huge disappointment to me - as he seems like just another VERSION, not worthy of a whole new BT-xx designation .. (oooohhh.. he's a GT!)  :redface   but he actually comes in TWO VERSIONS ALSO??  a #1 and #2???   :wtf    :tdown

Seems subaru was being a major pain in the ars and rather stipulated this in being able to use them.

While the original Binaltech/Alternators was a Subaru Impreza WRC 2003, the new version is instead going to be the current model, the Subaru Impreza WRC 2004. This appears to be one of the license conditions on Subaru's behalf who would also like to see the new version of their car represented in the line, especially since SWRT driver Petter Solberg won the World Rally Championship 2003 and the number "1" would look pretty nice on the doors of the car.

ANYWAYS... i just wondered.. from those of you that collect the entire BT series... your views on owning each version.  Do you pick one and go with it, ie, oldest version.. OR do you feel there is more value in obtaining both.. and years down the road will be worth having each version for the sake of a 'complete' set... or do you consider one version 'complete' enough??

Seems like a waste.  But i'm curious what verious BT collectors think.  Do you actually own all 4 of what should really be onl 1??  IMHO, these are the kind of moves, from any true collection series, that destroy a series.

BTW, are there any other 'version' issues besides these

BT-01 - (smokescreen) #7 and #8 version

BT-07 - (smokescreen GT) #1 and #2 version

BT-06 (tracks) - blue and yellow version

BT-08 - (Meister) white and red version

BT-15 - (prowler) white police and blue version

The Lazerwave is very nice but I like the Ravage figure myself. it looks great with a black tracks head on it, making it the super rare Black Tracks version. I think that is the only one I have on my desk at any time. I have all of them to date so there is no shortage of which ones I could use.

super rare indeed...  creating your OWN versions now eh?  lol

*comes to Subaru's defense* :D

The number variants reflect the actual rally cars. There's nothing wrong with Subaru exercising it's end of the licensing agreement and requesting a version of the toy to commemorate their winning the WRC Driver's Championship.

Subaru hasn't requested the latest incarnation to be made, yet, if ever. If that's any consolation. And they didn't get BTA alert to be the '06 model.

Takara could have easily just slapped a #1 on there and call it a day. I'm making assumptions here because no one really knows the behind the scenes (unless you were involved in the deal of course). But they added a missile and remolded parts of the car to be even more accurate than the original release.

I had #7 and 8 of BT-01, traded in #7 for BT-07. Didn't like it as much as I thought I would and sold BT-07. I didn't like the new sponsor and color layout in bot mode. I am teh picky. :)

Variants add variety and choice. A big plus for me. The only downside would be mold degradation from repeated use. That's my big gripe.

But as far as completionism? Sorry. I got no sympathy for that. If you've got the money. More power to you. If you don't. Look up obsessive compulsive disorder. I am over certain things but not TFs. :)

Remember the reverse-Pokemon mantra: "I don't have to buy. I don't gotta catch em all."

I got BT-07 because I came into the whole BT line late (damn finances :redface). Plus, it's the only tf I can think of with an alcohol advertisement on it :thumb

I bought BT-07 b/c i found it for cheap, plus it has the bonus of having the shoulder cannon (which kicks ass btw), so that is the only version of Smokescreen that I have. I can into BTs late, after having bought 5 Alts and then changing my mind and going BT on everything. I think it would be silly to buy 4 different versions of the same exact character, so I just have the one. I do have Zoom-Zoom however, but that was mainly b/c I liked the color and the mold. I actually haven't even opened him yet and may not (I kinda like the idea of only having the G1 homages, of which Zoom-Zoom is not one). Same thing w/ yellow Tracks and Blue Prowl, no real interest in them since they don't follow the G1 line.

I am pretty sure that he is referring to the G1 Tracks that came in black and is super-rare. You see one of these up on ebay every once in awhile for quite a lot of $$.

Not a bad idea making an updated black Tracks, similar to the updated blue Tracks.

Okay I KNOW this has been brought up before, but I recently purchased my first Binaltech the other day and I was pleasantly surprised by it.

I've collected almost all the alts (except the one or two molds I wasn't crazy about) and never gave buying a Binaltech a second thought.  But I purchased the alert x Ai from the asterisk line and he's become my favorite for the subaru mold.

so your BT* alert was good quality?  I've put off getting this one becuase I've heard its parts don't line up in vehicle mode.

I got number 1 becuase I want to get the BT exclusives.  I didn't really care which number of GT I got.  and I don't think it would be worth the money to get all 4 versions of BT smokescreen.

No problems in that respect I've noticed so far.  The only problem is Ai keeps wanting to hitch a ride with Grimlock instead.

:schin hmm...maybe I'll order one next week then.  where did you get yours from?
