Binaltech

Recommended Posts

Okay I KNOW this has been brought up before, but I recently purchased my first Binaltech the other day and I was pleasantly surprised by it.

I've collected almost all the alts (except the one or two molds I wasn't crazy about) and never gave buying a Binaltech a second thought.  But I purchased the alert x Ai from the asterisk line and he's become my favorite for the subaru mold.

So out of all the other Binaltech's, which are the best quality wise?  I'm thinking about getting one or two more but not sure which ones. Which ones do you folks rec?

i don't care for the BTs all that much. the heavier weight makes the joints loose after a few transforms. I do love the tracks mold though... can't go wrong with him.

You have to get Smokescreen GT. You will put Alt Smokescreen back in it's box and never ever look at it again! Ever damn it!

Once again just to make sure. If you get a BT Smokescreen, you'd gleefully give Alt Smokes to the goodwill.

I'd recommend BT Smokescreen, his blue paint job is simply amazing.  Overdrive (Windcharger) looks pretty good too.  (These guys also benefit from having much more of the body composed of die-cast panels.)

Generally speaking, the non-metallic paint jobs tend to look much better on the BTs.  Alts that use "metallic paint" plastics (such as Tracks) are almost the same, and often look better on the Alts because Takara is occasionally lazy and doesn't actually paint the plastic panels on these releases which often causes a noticable difference in color(e.g. Meister - both red and white versions).  Since silver paint is used for the body panels Alt Silverstreak and Grimlock look essentially identical to their BT counterparts.

The only one where the robot mode is drastically different looking is BT Wheeljack, his head is painted nicer and he comes with a chromed gun (and as mentioned above, the non-metallic white looks better in car mode).

From what I've seen, Laserwave looks nice too. I needs one of those. I heard that BTA Sunstreaker's Plastic and painted parts dont match. Not just heard, seen online.

I absolutely love those molds.  Is GT the one with the shoulder cannon?  Alt Smokes will most likely go to my nephew.  :thumb

Interestingly enough, Laserwave's plastic parts are completed painted - which surprised me considering they had never done this before with the metallic-finished plastics before (perhaps they didn't want a repeat of the Meister complaints - although, ironically the paint matches the plastic pretty well with Laserwave).

That is correct, BTA Sunstreaker's parts indeed don't match, which is especially annoying because they are painted  :wtf  .

Yes GT 2004 shoulder cannon. When I finally found Alt Smokescreen, It was a bittersweet moment. Happy to have a hyper detailed G1 redux but sad that the color sucks and it looks like a KO BT.

If they had used the metallic-infused plastic Alt Smokes would have looked great.
