But BW season 3 had proto-humans.  The caption on the first page of issue 2 of the comic puts it at 70,000 BC - I'm pretty sure Homo Sapiens were around by that point,

they weren't.  modern humans are <10,000 years old

Uh, no... and yes...depends on how exactly you want to define modern humans. If you say Homo Sapiens Sapiens, then they were around. This subspecies developed about half a million years ago in Africa and formed the second "Out of Africa" movement" (the first being Homo Erectus). If you count as modern humans the cro-magnon man, then no. CM only developed some 30,000 years ago. This, however, wasn't a development in Africa with a third exodus, but local developments across Eurasia. It's also more a "cultural" development: certain types of stone tools, funarel rituals and most importantly art.

Since in BW the proto humans hadn't yet developed stone tools and still lived in a single valley, the best guess would be to have BW take place during the "reign" of A. Afarensis ("Lucy") or slightly earlier. Statements like BW takes place about 70,000 BC or 10,000 BC (Primevil Dawn), are unfounded comments by people who really don't know what they're talking about. (Of course, the animals we see in BW don't conform with the era of 2.5 million years ago (A. Afarensis); e.g. gorilla's didn't exist then.)

I wonder if splittor is going to go TM before the comic is over, and this issue lacked grimlock, even though he was one the cover...

the proto-humans first appeared in season 2.

so im kinda amazed no one has said anything about Lio Convoy being on the cover of issue 3!!!!

Doesn't mean anything; Grimlock was on one of the covers of issue 2.  It's not uncommon for a cover to have little to nothing to do with the story inside.

this issue lacked grimlock, even though he was one the cover...

no kidding.  Covers that misrepresent content really bother me.

Furman already confirmed Grimlock will appear, don't know if Lio will show up though.
