yah, cybertron, armada and energon, suck as they do, are g1 remininscent. You guys who say g1 is terrible, look at your new shows. THEY USE G! NAMES AND PERSONALITIES! even optimus primes incarnations have been similar*obvious* but every series had a g1 perspective to it. It always will be. so BURN! there will always be g1 whether you hate it or not. It was the best and most creative series and you wouldnt have cybersuck or enerjackBlot without g1. oh and as always

The line after Cybertron is planned to be a G1 Redux.....A ton of G1-centrix Cybertron repaints planned. And the new Titanium Transformers that feature all generations.

So they're going to essentially redo G1 with today's technology if I'm reading correctly.  Because if so, that'll be so sweet.  It's about time IMO.

Sweet indeed bro. this is something I`ve been expecting them to do for a long long while now. What would be really cool is if they do a new show based on the old G1 characters using modern vehicles like the Alternators with a simplified line for the kids and the continuation of the Alternators line for those of us who can appreciate it. Two lines for one show would mean double the money for HasTakTomy. :tfgrin

considering that the entire second half of the show consisted of nothing but Beast Megs trying to kill G1 Prime, i'd say that BW is G1 to the point where it didn't even establish its own identity.

The new line is supposed to be a place-holding line between the end of Cybertron and the beginning of the movie lines.  This will work out to be the six month period between Christmas '06 and Summer '07.  Considering that this is the slowest time for toy sales of the whole year, I wouldn't hold my breath for a huge number of releases in this line.  In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if this ends up being exactly like Robotmasters, with maybe a half-dozen or so new molds and a few G1-themed repaints/retools of older molds.  I also doubt if there will be any "real" modern cars used, more likely they will be the "vaguely reminiscent" version we get now in the mainlines.  (Such as Hot Shot resembling an Audi TT in Armada and an Aston Martin in Energon, etc.)

 

Also, Hasbro mentioned at one of the Botcon panels that the Alternator licenses are for the toys only, they are not allowed to use the car's likenesses for any other type of media (comics or shows).  I now wonder if this is the reason that Hasbro never promotes the Alt line anywhere - as it could be confused with advertising coming from the car company.
