What's the link to P Prime's blog? Also, I'll be calling him Thrust, for the record. I could care less what the actual name is, I'm just glad he isn't brown anymore.

I still say it's better than whatever putz thought 'Beast Wars 2 Thrust' serriously made sense. :P

 

But this is still really weird. Why not go with Drag Strip? Was that not an appropriate choice?

No, and yes. If we get BW Ravage as a Binaltech (well, half of him), then BW2 Thrust isn't that much of a stretch either. Remember, this is the Takara Universe, not one of the various American ones.

His chest is a stylized G1 Megatron and the head is spot on. This mold was most likely originally Megatron, but it was changed when the gun was neutered.

We've already nixed the animation model. And, looking at the actual toys.. not even close, particularly on the chest. The chest doesn't really look like anyone, so that's a bad comparison anyway. On the other hand, the head sculpt is a lot like hero Megatron, with some Machine Wars Megatron sculpting..

Nah, Windsheer may be funny, though. ;) And, also, the gun isn't neutered in Japan... so...

 

I expect this was an oddball choice by Takara, maybe as filler or something to 'round out' the use of the mold. Just chalk it up to the same ideas as Psycho Orb and Wingstun being in Robot Masters. It's not going to make a lot of sense from a fan point of view on this side of the Pacific... but maybe it does from Takara's point of view.

 

Remember, BW2 was successful enough in Japan, this could just be an attempt by Takara to get some younger fans in through recognition. Still wouldn't be my first choice, but it is the one animated series from the Beast Generation that had some following to it.
