Binaltech Ravage - you gotta LOVE that pussycat!

Also, I'm curious how Megs got that message on the golden disks when the Voyager spacecraft were launched in 1977.  Oops...

Those Decepticons sure are a crafty bunch.

*goes to research possible explanations*

uh.... I got nothing.

Binaltech Ravage (Agent Ravage's memories) realizes his mission had failed and now sees this as an opportunity to complete his mission (notice they make mention of the Decepticons Forever quote).

That was actually my call. I don't know whether the Japanese original version was a direct quote of the Japanese version of "Decepticons forever" from the show, but I thought it'd be a nice touch to include it. :)

I figured that little bit was a Nevermore treat - as the syntax isn't quite right, an English teacher would rather it be written more like: "Forever seeking Decepticons to be the ruling faction, Ravage..." (although I haven't seen the card in the original Japanese to tell for sure).

I never understood that either, but from what I remember from the show, one of those golden disks was from the Voyager Spacecraft...

Or am I completely crazy....?

Well, right, that's the point. Megs was revived in 1984, and VGER was sent in 1977 / 1979. The other golden disk was the Vok thingy. By an amazing coincidence, they were both golden disks of the same size and shape, despite coming from two totally different sources. :thumb

Also, if you just do a search on 'Where were the golden disks from?' you get one very strange entry that I can't get too....

So the question remains, how the hell did he get his message on the disk??

I know one was Vok origin but.....

Also consider that the Voyager probes were just sent off into space... how would anyone have known where to even look for it once it had left the solar system?

P.S. both golden disks were Cybertronian artifacts, right? meh I'm getting confused.

in real life I believe the Voyager didn't begin to leave the confines of our solar system until 2003. I think it hit the heliosheath, an area between the our suns wind and the winds of inter-stellar space. It's an area far beyond Pluto, but still considered the last well of our solar system before space....

So in terms of TF history, the Voyager probe (the one heading out of our solar system at the time) would have been accessible by any Decepticon capable of space travel, since it was still within our solar system (Astrotrain with Megs on board perhaps)...

It would be cool if we got a story detailing Megs mission to inscribe the message.....

I don't think there was ever any story written on how the disks got to Cybertron to begin with, or why the Sol System was deemed off limits to Cybertronians...

Yeah, I'm confused too....

Courtesy of Carl Sagan, both Voyagers are equiped with a gold-plated, copper LP record (!) album called "Sounds of Earth." The disk contains recorded music and greetings (including humpback whales). Don't worry they also included a cartridge and needle to play the album in case the aliens who find it have CD players.

I guess that Megatron could have sent Astrotrain out to the middle of nowhere to swap disks with the Voyagers.

EDIT: Also the Voyagers have yet to reach the heliopause, XGalvatronX - you're thinking of the Pioneer 10 probe. Although technically, Voyager 1 is farther away - however, it's going in a different direction where the heliopause is further away from the sun.

Okay, I said:

There was a copy of his core consciousness in the black box. It was like file X-9 or whatever.

Let me just clarify that. The story says "Having successfully made contact with 'Central Conscious File X-9,' they were able to communicate with it" That's what I was referring to. I think it's kind of like the events of Dark Glass (even if they actually never happened) when Dinobot downloaded a copy of his personality program into the Axelon's computer.

yeah. And I know I'm being Outback-retentive, but in BW they do draw a distinction between core consciousness and data tracks. For instance, Silverbolt's and Quickstrike's data tracks are scrambled, so they have no memories of their past. However, they're not babbling idiots, which is what they would be if their core consciousnesses had been dumped (remember the fear that this would happen to Blackarachnia in "Crossing the Rubicon"?).

I believe data tracks are just that, data tracks.

Silvberbolt and Quickstrike aren't babbling idiots because since they only lost their memories, and still had their sparks with their protoforms, they still had a conciousness, or soul.

X-9 or BT Ravage is simple memories, at least that's what I get from the translation. Somehow, some of Agent Ravage/G1 Ravages conciousness made it along with those memories, that's the part they got into contact with in BT. They however needed a spark to keep the robot from being completely mindless...

Think of it as data on a hard drive. You can copy it on several different hard drives (data tracks), but without a mother board and CPU (spark) to translate those 0 and 1's to something useful, it's just data. Difference is, hard drives don't have sentience as it seems file X-9 did.....

Or do they...ever heard of Ghosts in the Machine.....?

oooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh.......... :eek

Got this right from the JPL/Voyager webpage

Check it out...it's really amzing when you think about how long these things have been going for.....
