Binaltech Ravage - you gotta LOVE that pussycat!

Okay, I said:

There was a copy of his core consciousness in the black box. It was like file X-9 or whatever.

Let me just clarify that. The story says "Having successfully made contact with 'Central Conscious File X-9,' they were able to communicate with it" That's what I was referring to. I think it's kind of like the events of Dark Glass (even if they actually never happened) when Dinobot downloaded a copy of his personality program into the Axelon's computer.

yeah. And I know I'm being anal-retentive, but in BW they do draw a distinction between core consciousness and data tracks. For instance, Silverbolt's and Quickstrike's data tracks are scrambled, so they have no memories of their past. However, they're not babbling idiots, which is what they would be if their core consciousnesses had been dumped (remember the fear that this would happen to Blackarachnia in "Crossing the Rubicon"?).

I believe data tracks are just that, data tracks.

Silvberbolt and Quickstrike aren't babbling idiots because since they only lost their memories, and still had their sparks with their protoforms, they still had a conciousness, or soul.

But remember what would have happened to Blackarachnia if Rhinox's attempt to remove Tarantulas' shell program had failed? She would have gone insane. That was related to her core consciousness. I'm just saying that that is an aspect of a TF separate from data tracks or spark.

(see, I *am* anal-retentive.)

I figured that little bit was a Nevermore treat - as the syntax isn't quite right, an English teacher would rather it be written more like: "Forever seeking Decepticons to be the ruling faction, Ravage..." (although I haven't seen the card in the original Japanese to tell for sure).

My first attempt was actually "Seeking Decepticons to be the ruling faction forever, Ravage...", but then I ecided to twist grammar just a little bit to fit than one in properly. :)

Got this right from the JPL/Voyager webpage

Oops, my bad - I saw heliosheath and thought heliopause (probably because of the Pioneer news a while back).

Good work. :thumb I thought it was clever.

Your right. I guess it's a different layer of the whole Spark, Data tracks, core conciousness cake?

If they are robots, and are also "programs" running inside metallic bodies, it could be a layer of programming. Kind of like network protocols. They have different "layers" of code that control different functions...

Then again, so are humans. What are we if not just chemical "programs". Each layer of chemicals controls a different function. Memories are just chemical reactions converted into something we can understand in our brains. I know there is more to it than that, but that the jist of it....and that's without getting into the whole soul debate.....

Lol. That's why I kind of knew you were making a mistake. Big astrology buf are you? Or did you study it in school or something? Not alot of people can make that relation...

Bit of a buff, I have a pretty good telescope that I unfortunately haven't used in ages. It just sits in my house collecting dust. I think the last time I used it was to check out Mars when it was super close two summers ago. (Part of the problem is that between my tall-ass house and a bunch of huge trees in the back yard the only direction you can see any stars is straight up.)

NOOO!!!! IT'S THE OSI LAYERS!!!! :eek

*runs*

*comes back*

I always interpreted it this way:

shell = body

spark = soul/spirit

core consciousness = mind

data tracks = memories/experiences

So a TF could survive after losing its data tracks (viz. Silverbolt / Quickstrike), but if it loses its core consciousness, it goes looney tunes. *tries to remember what the deal was with Transmutate*

And what exactly are the OSI layers....?

:tftongue

Basically,I believe you got it....

Let's not bring Transmutate into this. I've got a headache from all this already....

Who knew that s toy that so many disliked, would recieve such a cool story and spark such an interesting discussion...

I want to buy 3 more!!

ok... after reading that... why does the teerm 'boom' come to mind..?

Quick recap for those who don't know:

(This is coming from memory, so someone please let me know if I screw up)

In the Beast War series, set 400 years after the end of the Great War, G1 Ravage (Jaguar in Japan) becomes BW Ravage or Agent Ravage.

After the end of the Great War, several Decepticons were given amnesty (forgiven for war crimes) and now presumably live with the Autobots, Preds, and Maximals on Cybertron.

Some Decepticons, like G1 Ravage (Jaguar) converted to the smaller more efficient bodies. He apparently kept his bot form of a Jaguar.

Predacon Megatron, (no relation to the original Megs, he just took his name) steals 2 Golden Disks and heads to Earth. He ends up on Pre-Historic Earth. The Sol System (our Solar System) was set as off limits for unknown reasons to Preds and Maximals alike.

Since Megatron is a fugitive, the Tripedicus Council sends Agent Ravage (as he is now known) after him. When he gets to Pre-historic Earth, Agent Ravage begins to work with the Maximals in order to capture Megatron. Once Megatron is captured, Predacon Megs reveals a secret. On those Golden Disks (Apparently the same disks from the Voyager Spacecraft. Google that and you'll see the significance )is a hidden message from G1 Megs. If he had failed, whoever was to find the message is to continue his mission of dominiation of Cybertron and the universe. Upon seeing the message, Agent Ravage agrees to work with Predacon Megatron in order to defeat the Maximals and change history.

In the Agent Ravage's final battle, he actually transforms into his cassete mode, and inserts himself into the "tape deck" of his ship. (Displayed on serveral monitors on his ship is the Decepticon symbol, with each point lit up) All while yelling "Decepticons Forever!!!". Included is the classic transformation sound. His ship is destroyed and the last we see of him is head being kicked off the cliff into the body of water his destroyed ship rests. Along with his ship, the Maximal ship from the series was also destroyed and fell into a body of water. This comes into play in the BT story as you will soon see.

Fast forward to Binaltech. (Remember all the above happened on Prehistoric Earth. Approx 4 million years before 1984 when the TF's we know awaken on the Ark.) So the Triple III finds several artifacts. Some of them being advanced technology in from the future. These artifacts are presumably the Beast Wars remenants. (remeber the destroyed ships?) The "Black Box" of Agent Ravage's (G1 converted Ravage) is discovered and the Triple III is shovked to see it contains his memories. They dub the conciousness X-9, and strike a deal to build him a new body. Since what they only have at this point is memories and no soul, or spark, they decide to use present day G1 Ravage's spark in order to provide it. This is why they keep G1 Ravage in cassete mode, in the Vette's tape deck. Remember, some bots were nearly killed by the cosmic rust and are in stasis lock. Since this is the case, G1 Ravage has no idea what is going on. Binaltech Ravage (Agent Ravage's memories) realizes his mission had failed and now sees this as an opportunity to complete his mission (notice they make mention of the Decepticons Forever quote).

At some point, BT Ravage will be destroyed, G1 Ravage will awaken with no memory of any of this, and the timeline will continue...

I do suggest you go out and by the BW DVD's. Seeing the events that take place is way better then reading them. I will bet that once you see the scene of Agent Ravage transform into his cassette mode and hear that old school transforming sound, you will get goosebumps....

In Primeval dawn ithe Vok seperate Tigerhawks spark, and use Ravage's body for TM tigertron, and a blank for TM airazor, to help Primal Prime fight Zombie-Turantulas' forces wich include a miraculasly revieved TM2 Ravage(a.k.a. Walmart Tripreadacus agent) Nextime we see the undead arachned(Universe) hes in Unicrons belly, ravage-less, I guess we will never know ravage's fate
