why fort max?

Recommended Posts

Never had Max. I had Plex though. Was really dying to have it as I remember. I know I still have him someplace. I'm not really a fan of huge HUGE transformers.. and being Max is about as big as they'll ever get.. case in point. As mentioned, I didn't even know there was a Fort Max until I've seen pictures of it. But other than being big, there's really no reason for me to go out and get em. I have more interest in the Diaclone Transformers than Fort Max..

All the above is true but another thing about FM is the details all over the city. Honestly you could easily create countless battles with him and your TF collection. Also FM was one of the most heavily armed in the terms of weapons, Metroplex (I enjoyed that toy too) came the closest IMO. I will post reviews from various sites with pics later, but if you had one FM was usually the gem in any G1 collection.

Now read this review and you too will admire in awe Fortress Maximus! :eek

FM RULES! :thumb :clap

Thing is, Fort Max has a lot more play value as a base and in terms of sheer size... I've got Metroplex standing in front of my Brave Max right now and Metroplex barely makes it past Fort Max's knees. I can't stress how massive he is next to pretty much ANY transformer.

Fort Max is a staple for any completist because of his prohibitive price point which spanks Metroplex like a bad monkey comparatively. For that matter have you actuallly SEEN FOrt Max? He is absurdly big; so big that while many say that size does not matter, things change drastically when you practically have to wrestle him to change him from mode to mode. One final note, Metroplex is possibly one of the most stupidly fragile TFs ever made which is ironic considering the epic scuffles they displayed in the TV show with Trypticon. Metroplex's waist bit is extremely delicate and can snap like a twig in all its vast capriciousness; I can't tell you how many poor bastards I've had to console over the many years that I've seen "the break" happen to.

They're both excellent figures, but taking play value and other factors into account then Fort Max comes out on top between the two.

I completely agree! :thumb

3.) Bragging rights: Remember "G.I. Joe?" Remember the U.S.S. Flagg aircraft carrier--the one that was so big that Hasbro had to put more wheels on it and add a folding feature to the control tower, just so it could fit underneath a child's bed? Fort Max is the Flagg of Transformers--only the lucky or the rich would ever find one under the tree come Christmas morning. He's one of those elusive "Holy Grails" that collectors comb the Earth for since almost no one could buy him then, and there's no chance of a reissue now.

i remember the USS flagg- a kid i knew had it.

he had to have help carrying it out of his room.

ooh... just think of this kitbash: flagg into tidal wave! it'd be like a 4 foot tall TF!

Fort Max was bigger, had a smackload of gimmicks, was bigger, had lotsa weapons, was bigger, was a DOUBLE HEADMASTER, included the vehicles which became another bot, was bigger, and he had a better-looking base mode.

But that would be pretty neat.

I remeber getting metroplex for my collection...and going "THIS is IT?"

Then I got Brave Max...getting the box going "THIS is IT!!"

I remember seeing a lousy kitbash of Spike for Cerebros that was accurate for Rebirth. If they could improve it and make less sloppy I'd love one.
