In the Show(japan) Mega Zarak(Scorpinok) was the same size, and the Zarak shiel was the only thing that Fortress Maxmus' Master Sword could not cut.

Was he in every battle? A Transformer that huge would take a LOT of energon/feul to power...

That and the Decepticons had Skorponok, right...?

Ahhhhh skorponok, i'd forgotten about him. was obviously a noob moment.

for some reason i have skorpornoks headmaster but never had the toy.

Yep lots of power, He usaly tfed just long enough to PWN Zarak, then ran out of power and Tfed back into his Starship mode.

How the hell did the autobots not own in every battle with Fort Max backing them up???

For the same reason they combine teams would remember only at the end of the episode that they can form a giant and wipe out the enemy.

OR why the Voltron force would forget to actually form Voltron until they were in dire straits.

OR why Giant Bot (insert name) didn't just show up on every mission and trash their opponents.

It's called 'Plot Convenience'

Otherwise, all the adventures would be on the order of:

15 decepticons attack Autobot base, Fort Max incinerates 3 square miles rendering the 15 decepticons to molten ore. Story ends in record time leaving 27 minutes for commercials and an admittedly cheap animation budget.

Yeah, and those Clone Wars segments notwithstanding, 3 minute action cartoons aren't a good idea. Hell, the show could have ended in the first episode if Megatron and the Decepticons had hung around the Ark for about ten minutes feeding the autobots into the garbage disposal. Or if Teletran One was programmed to NOT repair Decepticons.

LOL... I have all of Scorponok EXCEPT the Headmaster, Zarak, who I lost somewhere along the way.

This is true. But plot and commercials aside. A transformer (Fort Max) of that size requires a HUGE amount of energon to function, especially in battle. Which is not pratical to use in every battle. Plus, the collateral damage from his weapons would be HUGE as well. That's why you don't see nukes used in real life, yet. Now if Fort Max was a Decepticon and collateral damage is not an issue for them, then I think you'll see him utilized more for utter destruction and chaos.

...which of course is the kind of thing that the character Fort Max feared- senseless slaughter of innocents.

the decepticons had scorponok for that, as leader after galvatron got trapped under some ice for all eternity. and Fortress (cerebros) became leader after optimus died again and rodimus went to build a new cybertron after the first one blew up
