i voted for hasbro, due to the lower prices even though the takara products are fine(i only have sl wing saber) and usually beat hasbro in releasing them and the imports beat the US releases from hasbro

i gotta go with takara... even if my olny hope of getting the figures in via ebay. hasbro uk may as well not even exist. apparently they're not releasing anymore BT figures after smokescreen, all their reissues have defects, such as optimus primes short stacks, ultra magnus' extended missiles, jazz' lack of crome on his weaponry etc, the seeker's lack of arm-lasers, instead getting replaced by awful long missile type things... the list goes on. yea yea, they have to bow to stupid laws about not being able to release toys in the shape of guns, or having parts that could injure children. but i'm sure there are ways of getting around this by selling the figures as collectables in more adult-orientated "toy" shops?

ionno. i'm just annoyed at having to pay extortionate prices for figures that are so cheap to buy in america for example... i'd be perfectly happy if amazon.com shipped to the uk, but no... i have to deal with amazon.co.uk's meagre selection.

when are hasbro uk actually gonna get their asses in gear and bring us more reissues???? all we have had so far is optimus prime, rodimus major, ultra magnus, starscream, power master optimus prime and jazz.

Give it up Hasbro lovers.

No. That only proves that there are more Takara supporters than there are Hasbro supporters. Also, I believe that it's actually Hasbro who's getting it right with Energon as opposed to Takara, who seems to just keep dropping the ball with Superlink (Most of the Energon figures are actually more show accurate than their Superlink counterparts). You want comparisons? Go to BG's site, go to Columns, and click "Why Energon is Superior to Superlink".

and when you have both versions in your hands, you will see with your own two eyes and feel with your own two hands that Takaras SL figures have consistently tighter joints, more and higher quality paint apps except in the case of Inferno and overall just feel sturdier. And yes I can account for this because I have been buying 1-2 of each character from both lines since the series was released because as a whole, I feel Energon/Super Link is the best line Transformers has seen...ever!

Really, I dont care if its show accurate or not, its the quality. Hypothetically speaking, if there was no "show" as in if people had seen the toys way before the show atleast, and both lines came out at the same time and each figure was stood next to its counter part from the 2 lines in a contest, I think that Takaras versions would win except in the case of Inferno and Megatron. And I could care less about the sound fx either.

Now since the show came out and eveyone see's the character models in the show as being the "ultimate" version of the character, whichever line that has the most "show accurate" colors is going to be the favorite even though its the show that is wrong because they used prototype colors that werent locked down yet. Thats the mentality I think most Energon fans are taking, however I see it as Takara is brave to release non show accurate colors that in reality look better on the toy regardless of show accurateness or not.

I dont think we will see any Universe esque repaints coming Takara any time soon because they know their color wheel and they arent affraid to use it! :tftongue

I don't really care if they're show accurate or not, since I have never watched the show. It still sucks though that Towline and Sharkticon are going to be USA editions in SuperLink. I'm leaning towards Takara because the local shops I am buying from seem to have an easier time acquiring Takara TFs over Hasbro. Retailers hate the assortment system crap, and for some reason, some suppliers give small-time retailers and collectible shop owners a harder time in getting Hasbro figures.

Hasbro, reasons here: http://behold_galvatron.tripod.com/beholdg...srealm/id3.html

Now for J Anderson...

Cost should hardly be an issue. Especially importer prices. Takara has no control over that, pelase stop reaching for excuses.

That's an excuse right there. Most fans live in the US so we have no choice but to pay importers, so unless we hop a plane to Japan we have no choice....As for marking up prices, yeah importers do but not that much. Take away a few dollars of markup and the Takara products will STILL be more than the Hasbro ones. And that's without shipping as well...

I've never had a loose Takara joint. Or a bad paint app. Meanwhile, I had to dig through about 30 Hasbro reissue Prowls to find one that didn't either have a bad paint flake or a fingerprint smudge.

Good for you. Doesn't mean it never happens. I got SL Nightscream this week and he had sloppy paint, a crooked spark crystal, chipped paint on his lower leg and his backpack wasn't as secure as the Energon version

At least with Hasbro you can exchange items, I'm unfortunetly stuck with this turd (its sad too as I really like the SL scheme better than Energon's)

And I don't know about you, but in my home reality, metal is stronger than plastic. However, if you can show me this miracle plastic that's harder than steel, please, do so.

:tfhuh

Paint doesn't chip on plastic. Still metal is better, just not twice the price of an Alt better. Plastic is a good substitute and doesn't have chipping problems

Hasbro could have disabled all the reissue launchers from the start, but rather than admit they have a collector following, they gave us big safety parts. And short stacks had many ways around that... and I do not buy Archer's BS story about how softer plastic can't be chromed. Please, obtain the 12" ultimate Jango Fett made by Hasbro. Please tell me his guns are not soft chrome plastic... and you can't as they are soft chrome plastic the same length as the Takara stacks.

And how many people care about these so called issues? Not as many as you'd like to think...Prime is selling just fine here. "short stacks"? Give me a break, the best version of Prime comes out and you're worried about how big his smokestacks are? Shows how much free time YOU have....

Drop tests.... just a roundabout way of saying "we want to save some money on production". I doubt they ever considered releasing Fort Max.

You know this how? Hasbro probably considered it and did some research to detrimine there wasn't a great enough market for it along with safety reasons. If there was enough demand it would have been released as no sane company turns down the chance for profit and considering Hasbro is a Top 5 toy company I think they would know what they are doing alot more than you :wave

They probably avoided a ML Unicron flop that Takara endured. Thats why Takara shrank the Galvatron mold BTW because it would sell better there in a smaller size.

And Hasbro doesn't want to cater to collectors. At all. Hence why these toys are not marketed as adult collectibles. Ever. They have this stupid idea that if not everything is marketed towards kids, it will pollute the line. Heh. A weak mythos that maybe Simon Furman cares about, and a series of toy liens that will lose one group of buyers and pick up another with each series... yeah, I can see a strong story polluting this line. Like it would hurt sales any. They don't even want to give us a story for Alternators.

Why should they want to? Hate to break this to you, but the collector market here is much smaller compared to JP. Takara can cater because there is enough support there....and if you don't buy that look at how well TRU reissues are selling and no its not because they got changed up a little. Internet fans might know (and care) about that but the typical fan doesn't. Also look at MOTU. It catered ENTIRELY to fans and look how well its doing...

As for the kids, DUH, of course they want to market it for kids. They want to get new fans into the franchise and raise profits with more consumers. What's wrong with that? Why shouldn't they try and sell Alts and 20th Primes to kids as well as collectors. They'd be stupid to try and cut off a potiental market. If they made Alts and Prime adult collector's items, that means no TRU, Target WM, etc and that means less product for distribution.

They gave a story for Universe and that's a repaint line. Alts they probably didn't want to create any continuity for it and leave it up to fans what the story is

And why shuld Takara release stuff to please the US market? They have Hasbro for that. They shrunk Megatron for a REASON. If you're too dense to see that, then there's no hope for you. I see enough people whining about toys they don't buy anyway, shows how much free time some people have.

Really? What "reason" would that be? To have him more in scale with Prime:

Or maybe with Scorponok?

:tflaugh :tflaugh :tflaugh

Oh and BTW Energon is animated in JAPAN so that means Takara did plan to have him large in the first place....

Now let's see you respond to this without your "racist fanboy" BS you come up with and I'll really be impressed :thumb

you do know scorponok is kneeling in that pic don't you? PRIME's TOY IS OVERSIZED

Takara is obviously superior to Hasbro and here's why: Box Art, Show accuracy, Durability, DVD Quality, and Tons of Exclusives.

The box art has always been superior to Hasbro packaging. Hasbro never spends enough time on the box art. I can understand that 99% of customers discard the box but that doesn't mean it should look cheap.

Show accuracy is the BIGGEST reason to why Takara is better than Hasbro. Here are a few examples: Armada Wheeljack's hood was painted yellow. Was it like that in the show? Hell no. Where the hek did Hasbro come uo with that.

Armada Hoist wasn't painted white. Why? Is it that hard to paint a toy white? White paint is like the most common color so there are no excuses.

Armada Tidal Wave was painted green instead of purple. Someone claims that too many transformers toys being painted purple caused this. That's pure BS. Here's why: Armada Terrorsaur had green, Scavenger had green, Powerlinx Cyclonus had green, Thrust had green, Universe Reptilion had green, Universe Tankor had green, Universe Striker had green, Armada Megatron had green, Universe Primal had green, so then why was Tidal Wave painted green?

I'm not trying to attack Hasbro at all. I just want to get something worthwhile for the money I pay. I don't understand why Hasbro changes the colors around and doesn't paint the toys show accurate like Takara.

I just recently find out that Takara even uses resealable bubble packs for Super Link. Really cool, and obviously aimed at collectors. Also, you can easily put back Super Link toys in their boxes unlike Hasbro's.
