Boycott Hasbro

Recommended Posts

I am so sick of Hasbeen. If they're not going to release any new G1 reissues, just say so already. They promised Sideswipe over 6 months ago (he's been in Canada at least that long) and not only is it not on the shelves but they don't even have the balls to tell us why in one of their lame Q&A's (which they haven't done since the summer anyway). Either kill the line or start releasing more...either way they OWE the people who drop $30+ a pop on these things a little info. Takara, here I come!!!!!!!

I find it interesting that people's first reaction here is to attack the OP, instead of seeing what he is saying (and what we've been complaining about for quite some time) -- that Hasbro's distribution chains are horrible, and they have issues with communicating with their fanbases.

So what is the OP doing? Well, for one, he's boycotting Hasbro in the respect that he is not buying anything new. How can he, as he probably has everything locally he wants. Furthermore, if he goes the route you guys are suggesting (Takara, not re-selling/ebay), then Hasbro not only loses that money, but loses any future possibility of getting his money, and therefore loses impedus to produce more product...

A transformers boycott is just that: The refusal to purchase a set of goods by a group, be it large or small. No matter what it has an impact on the company, relative to the size. Unfortunately, this isn't some small company that relies on a single toy line to survive... So in the end, all boycotts do is raise prices and potentially threaten one's line. In other words, "complaining won't do anything."

Does that mean you shouldn't complain? Of course you should! I mean, jeez, Hasbro does have issues, and they have to know such. So much stock sitting on the shelves not selling, despite the line's immense popularity... I mean, it is a good sign that one cannot find many of the Christmas product, even to this day. But perhaps Hasbro will clean up its act (on all its lines)...

I tell ya what. Let's speed it up, and boycott one of Hasbro's biggest moneymakers: Magic: The Gathering. Ya, that's where to hurt them. =p

Athenor

um...are you defending him or making fun of him? i cant figure out which one you are trying to do...

:pfx Man its been AWHILE since I've seen a topic like this :tflaugh1

No doubt that Sideswipe is a problem, but really, we aren't talking about a problem on the level of Mattel's blunder with MOTU or even Toy Biz's stupid "Pack one Villain and make the rest Spideys" or " Shortpack the desirable ML's and pack the rest with Woverine and Ironman Variants". We are talking about one figure and its not a new one at that, its an ancient mold thats available through the importing.

As for them being lazy with Q&As, look what they've had to put up with: both Dreamwave and 3H folding, with the latter being a cause for a huge PR disaster. The fact that they've managed to recompence fans and promote good feeling about the next convention is a huge victory, that alone makes a boycott over one figure unnecessary. THen when you look at what is out now (E Galvatron, U Nemesis Prime among COUNTLESS others) There is absolutely no reason for a boycott, Hasbro has if anything, been more of a friend to the fan community than ever before

Yeah I thought we'd seen the last of this about a year ago when I first joined up here.

Anyhoo as I said before on a different tread Hasbro listens very well to it's fans, maybe a little too well as indicated by the simplicity of the transformations of the Gallaxy Force (my thread b!tch of the past couple of weeks).

But distribution is a different issue all together.

Now at times Hasbro will limit production and availability of some of the more riskier figures, like Energon Kicker and Energon Arcee. Hasbro has seen a slump in sales in the G1 reissues (TRU has discounted them a couple of times). So the G1's (I'm guessing here) are in the risk catagory.

NOw as fare as distripution is conserned you have to go after the actual store in question. If you wish, boycotte the Wal-mart, Target, or in this case the Toys R Us in your area that has yet to carry the toy you want.

One Wal-mart in the downtown (where I live) area refuses to carry a lot of Altinators because of the high theft rate. But in a different Wal-mart not far away they have alot of them.

It is said that the G1 reissue in question is an old one. One thing I've learned if you want a particular toy, get it when it comes out! I missed out on 3 great beast formers in the Universe line because I thought they would be around for a while. Yeah I was wrong!

So as far as your attack on Hasbro, that's a moot effort.

I could do the same about not finding an Arcee.......but why?

If you passed up on a Sideswipe or were not paying attention that's your loss. Also take note they exist in Toys R Us and nowhere else.

Yes, but I will say that:

1. It's a damned shame Hasbro couldn't get the figure (Sideswipe) out on time or even into it's biggest market or available through their partners at Amazon. Toys R Us shares alot of this blame too. I think was really gets me is that I _have_ been buying this line every chance I get and somebody's negligence is screwing me out of a toy, Hasbro out of their money, and the rest of us out of a great line.

2. I would also like to have some information thrown our way again via the Q&A sessions. Granted, they were worthless or lies more often than not, but occasionally there were some interesting hints. If you ask me, the whole OTFCC debacle was a good excuse to stop temporarily and the situation with DW has the fandom so distraught that, gasp, practically nobody will notice when it doesn't come back.

we have alot of g1 shelf warmers in my local toys r us.. maybe once those go we'll see new stuff (sideswipe and other various reissues) ...but untill then.. were all S.O.L

on the 10 o clock news: "the protestors seem to chanting something that sounds like: Bah Weep Gra Na wEEp ninI BoNG???"

edit: while your protesting i'll be enjoying my alt sideswipe and various other tf's

So, because one person can't get the brick that he wants we should boycott Hasbro? :roll

You are the man BG...

I agree wholeheartedly.

Why would E-Arcee be risky?

As for Hasbro and the new Collector's Club...I'm not sure. Some of it sounds dodgy to me...like asking for proof of OTFCC membership paid by credit card...when probably a large majority of members paid up at the convention, where they were asked to pay in cash (from what I've heard, I didn't go myself, had better places to go ermpasadenaahem).

My theory is this: His boycott will probably end once TF:Cybertron shows up. He'll be back. They always come back. :tard
