Target Losing Faith In Transformers?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so going into numerous Targets in my area its looking more and more that Target is slowly losing faith in TF's from their shelves. We all know that they are sitting on excessive amounts of Wave 1 of Prime figures and BB's are clogging the pegs. It is very doubtful they will get in the Generation 2.0 figures since they only have 3 pegs slotted for Deluxes.

Is anyone else noticing this trend in their area or have the same feeling that Target is now the LAST place to go look for new figures?

It used to be that Target was THE place for me to find new stuff, but lately it seems more like TRU followed by WalMart. I hope this changes soon.

imho below:

Target srores in the USA are infamous for expanding their toy section on key selling months like the christmas season october thru december months. then when the non-christmas holiday months are their target stores always make their toy sections extremly small.

I think it is more, that there is not a movie coming out and with Hasbro's constant distribution problems, along with Avengers and Spider-Man. Transfomers was going to suffer, I mean the Target where I live has not gotten any new Transformers in 2 months, and they have been ordering but Hasbro has not been shipping

Hasbro took a huge HIT with the flop of a movie Battleship. They laid off a bunch of people, one semi famous fan boy friend of mine included.

Retailers may have lost some faith in them as well, so smaller retail space?

Or is it that we're so used to SOOOOOOO much space on the shelves for 2 or 3 TF lines at a time, that now that the movie line from last year should be fading away by now, we're cut to just 2?

Part of the FUN of collecting is the HUNT! If it were just up to GETTING everything we want immediately, it's fricking BORING!

Target sucks for toy stock. They are usually late, or short stocked, and Walmart usually beats them by a couple cents.

Support your local Toys R Us. Spend a iddy biddy bit more, and keep our only national toy store chain a float. Before all we have is on line, and tar-zay & walmart, or K-mart for that matter.

3AM rant, concluded.

imho below:

I actually think Kmarts stores are quite decent in their TF toy sections. I love that hardly any fans/ebay sellers go to kmart looking for newer TF toys. I usually have the most luck going into kmart and finding the newer & more desired TF toys I want. examples: ROTF leader Jetfire,DOTM Leader ironhide,classics/generations deluxes. found a TFP Deluxe Vechicon at kmart last month.

Kohl's use to be a decent store to find newer TF toys at. sadly the kohl's in my areas have yet to stock any TF Prime toys on the pegs.

Too bad Archer wasn't included in the round of firings. Target still has decent space for Transformers but they are always bare. So why should they increase the size?

K-Mart only has 6 pegs devoted to Transformers where I am at and all they have are DOTM for $15 and Prime for $15 and the Prime is empty with DOTM flowing over.

I'd rather just find the toys quickly. Time spent hunting is less time I'm spending playing with my toys. Hunting sucks. I didn't mind it so much when I was younger and single... but when you have a family, spare time becomes more of a luxury and hunting just becomes downright annoying and frustrating. Then there's the increasing cost of fuel.

I believe Target has a reset coming up and they're holding Generations figures for that. Do lose hope my friend. I know how you feel. I haven't bought anything in a Target in a few months and it makes me sad.

The only thing frustrating is when I do not find what I am looking for, of coarse MOST of my hunting happens when I am out shopping with my family. Don;t know why spare time should be a luxury though

Well we will find out, I plan on asking again tomorrow morning at my Target, since I've gotten to know the toy stockers over the last few months

K-Mart sucks. Most of the stores in my area look like a bomb went off. Cluttered, disorganized and old stock. Toys R Us sucks. They have the 'largest selection', but much of that selection has been sitting there for over a year. Plus they sell at MSRP. Target and Walmart is where I have found a vast majority of new releases in the past. However, both those stores don't have the best distributoin or employee compassion to keep up with their aisles.

I won't blame it all on the stores, though. As mentioned, with the movieverse out of the picture and Hasbro dipping into other things right now (Spiderman for instance), TF is taking a back seat. And let's face it, Generations hasn't been the biggest shelf mover for the big boxers, so I doubt they're exactly giddy to get shelf stock up.
