I thought it was the combat fatigues and assault rifle that made the store clerks go the extra mile?

Some of column a, some of column b. :lol

Joking aside, good to see your move went smoothly LO. Been quiet this week without you on here :P

Usually it was the making of the point, that got them to get me what I was looking for

Haven't moved yet, I was in Arizona, job and house hunting. I move at the end of July :doh

Anyway it's definitely not just Target, I was in Toys R Us earlier today picking up the FOC figs, the store clerk had just STARTED putting these on the shelf so I felt very confident I could pick up all 3 starter wave fig's. I grab OP, and Jazz and keep looking... no Shockwave, wtf! I ask the clerk and and the clerk says flat out " we didn't get any of that figure in our case's"

$14.99 says he bought all the Shockwave's and is turning around and selling them on ebay, another $14.99 says he's doing the same thing to the Vehicons I can't ever effing find.

It depends on the store and the managers. The Target where I live is extremely anal about it. They have the signs up and will refuse to look in the back if it's before the 'street date'. However, if I go 10mi east to Manteca, they are more than happy to go to the back if they show the stock.

I've seen these signs near the TF section at this one target. the signs read something like: "this is a rare collerctors item, please don't buy over the limit. our employees will refuse to go in the back stock room looking for items."

That OR people called at opening and asked for the figure so therefor they were held back for the customer when they came in later that day. It is all knowing when the Truck comes in is all. In my area it is Wednesday for trucks at TRU. In fact 2 weeks ago I called at 10:05am and asked if they had got any new Prime figures in. I was told 'no' but they did get in the new Generations. He asked if I wanted them held and I said yes. So 45mins I walk through the door and they are waiting for me. Another great thing happened also when I picked them up, I mentioned that I was still having trouble finding a Vehicon and the stock associate told me he would let me have his that he was holding in the back for him to buy himself. I told him thank you and was appreciated. Funny thing is when I checked out the cashier told me they were actually holding all the Vehicon's in the back because they found out from other employees that scalper's were hoarding that particular figure. So management made the call to hold them in stock room unless someone asked in passing about the figure. So all in all that was a great day for me.

imho below:

Years ago before I moved. I use to live a few blocks away from a Toys R us store. the employees & managers use to hide the desirable toys in the back, for the sole purose of selling them on ebay for profits. their was a hasbro crew that use to do resets & stock shelves that said these TRU employees had a secret stash in the back. a few times management yelled/disciplined these TRU employees that hid stuff in the back.

I blame the TRU corporate for doing a bad job in training their managers & employees. against hiding toys in the back.

Regardless of the intentions,it's just bad business pratices to hide desirable toys in the back. it should be first come first serve. not reserve these items in the back for people we think are not scalpers. who's to say the people asking for the toys from the back are not the scalpers. to waste time & energy deciding who is a scalper & who isn't just seems like a royal headache & playing nurse maid/baby sitting.

Currently my nearest TRU store is 36 miles away one way & 72 miles away round trip. I haven't been to a TRU store in almost a year.

Walmart & kmart are my preferred stores to buy newer TF toys from. because the management & employees are trained against hoarding/hiding toys in the back. they are also trained to treat customers as equals & with respect.

I loathe target stores. as they judge adult buyers and think their all ebay scalpers. sorry,I don't need to spend money in a store that judges me,hates me & treats me inferior to other customers.

I'm honestly praying TRU.com has pre-orders or regular listings for MP Thundercrackers & MP Optimus. So I can order these on-line & not have to visit any TRU stores this year.

The worst things that happened to me a couple of times each at Walmarts and Targets that left me literally speechless. When new assortments of something come out and for some reason one of the upc numbers don't scan the price properly and they told me they couldn't sell it to me rather than look up and enter the amount manually.

They try to tell me they are probably street dated, which they're not, or transition stock to be removed which it's not and insist there is nothing they can do to sell me the item, even though I have another in my hand that scans just fine and came from the same case.

You try to explain to it them and it's like you're speaking Chinese or something.

That used to be the worst offense an employee could commit was to let a sale walk out the door. Now it's been like 4 or 5 different times where they did just that for no good reason other than they were too lazy. What's worse, I couldn't even get a supervisor to come talk to me about it because they were too busy elsewhere to be able to come and help. I'm not kidding, I heard them say that right over the walkie.

The area one lives in is probably a big part of it. Stores with people working there sick of people being jerks all the time are less likely to be helpful, but stores with a relatively decent, more mild mannered patrons probably tend to have more helpful and friendly people working there.

More on the topic, retailers are being rather funny at the moment. They seem to only be sending out just enough so that sections aren't totally empty. The problem is they are missing out on a lot of sales by not fully filling a lot of their more popular product lines. The store I work at has just an abysmal movie and music department. So many hot selling titles that we run out of quickly and take way too long to restock with too few of. It's silly.

I'm guessing each store is probably limited to a particular dollar amount in terms of freight it receives per day determined by it's sales. From then it's probably prioritized in several ways before the trucks are packed. All I know is the store I work in could easily take in put out 2 trucks worth per day if they would send it to us. Our sales can only grow so much if we don't get all of our stock replenished properly.

They don't seen to understand that fact...or care.
