The size difference in the weapons and figure causes a disconnection, as in the weapon does not appear to be for the figure

Yep, because never in the history of anything has anyone ever carried a big gun.

That wasn't the point, the point is the weapons don't seem to fit the figures.

That's exactly the point. Tell me that the weapons for character like Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, and Shockwave don't match the characters. They're even color coordinated. They couldn't possibly be more suited for the figures they come with.

Actually the size of the weapon does not match the smaller size of the figure. The 2007 and ROTF figures where much bigger, especially the Voyagers and it is like Hasbro decided to just take away more plastic then was necessary. Case in point

2007 and ROTF Voyager Optimus Prime vs DOTM Voyager Optimus Prime. Way more plastic was removed then what Hasbro said why, Thus causing the Voyagers Price drop due to the disdain of Hasbro

Megatron and Shockwave are the only exceptions because their mech techs are an integral part of their transformation. Shockwave is not a tank without his and Megatron is missing half his tanker.

For the Optimus Prime and almost all deluxe classes, the mechtechs look silly. Some may be able to pull it off in robot for but in alt mode pretty much forget about it.

I figure I'll help out a bit on some of the confusion here.

On the first day DOTM went on sale, they had different prices depending on where you went. Walmart was the cheapest from the start with Deluxe at $9.88 and voyagers at $18.88. Target had them for $10.99 deluxe and 19.99 voyager. TRU was $11.99 and I think $19.99.

From the start these were cheaper than ROTF were by an average of $1-$3 per figure depending where you went. Most places started off DOTM at $12.99 and $19.99-$22.99 again depending where. So there was a pretty good price difference right from the start.

C'mon though, the decrease in size was very minimal. Contrary to haters claims, there is nothing to back up claims that these were in any way cheaper quality than any other figures. Seriously, if you think there was a problem with the plastic in the DOTM figures then DO NOT get Prime voyager Megatron! That feels more KO quality than any figure I've ever bought. But I know Hasbro, and I know that if I don't push things in ways that shouldn't be pushed then I won't break anything. Guess what, I haven't. So the durability is still there so the complaining about that is pointless.

Think of it this way, people have been complaining it seems with each successive line about how plastic quality feels cheaper and cheaper. Well for all the times that has been said, you'd think these things would be made of crepe paper by now!

Walmart dropped voyagers to $15 first and Target followed, Target probably just matching Walmart. But this happened as the holiday season kicked off and that is nothing new for Walmart. We've seen most every line hit some big holiday discounts over the years so again, this is nothing new nor is it anyway to guage a products success on. I think it's more of a stores way to boost sales than it is to simply get rid of something not moving. If it was to get rid of figures that weren't moving, then half the toy section would be marked even lower and they're not, because there are things that move a helluva lot slower than Transformers do!

To me, the DOTM was the best figure line of all 3 movies. Not even really close. Other lines may have had some great figures too that I would put ahead of DOTM but DOTM never got the expanded treatment that the other 2 lines got in which the best figures from those lines came out. So if you were only to compare DOTM to the first half (give or take) of what other lines put out, then DOTM kills them. Easy. And I paid a lot less to own them, even at their regular prices.

The Mechtech gimmick IS NOT a reason to like or hate the line in anyway whatsoever. You like them? Great. Don't? Fine. IT DOESN'T MATTER! Put them in a shoe box, quit bitching about them and move on! We've had some pretty lame gimmicks over the years and this hardly compares to them even in the slightest way.

RIGHT now only Walmart has the DOTM deluxes for a low price.

2 days ago,I retail toy hunting target had the DOTM Deluxes cost over $12. at kmart had the DOTM deluxes over $12. TRU Had the DOTM deluxes over $12. the retail drug stores sell the DOTM deluxe for over $17. Kohl's has the DOTM deluxes for over $11.

The only DOTM toys that appear to have lowered prices everywhere are the Voyagers & ultimate optimus prime.

It's worth mentioning that the only DOTM Leader sized Ironhide doesn't have any Mech tech weapons. he has no mech tech external weapon that can pop on/off in his hands or his connector ports on his body.

DOTM Leader sized ironhide has 2003 energon styled internal hyper mode weapons.

I couldn't possibly agree more Madman! Good on ya!

He has holes on the truck panel kibble on his shoulders that - deliberately or not - work as Mechtech weapon ports. Since this is a DOTM figure, I'm inclined to think it's deliberate. i don't recall if it's in the instructions or not - didn't really use them. And his fist holes can hold MT weapons.

He may not come with Mechtech weapons, but he does support them.
