So, I finally got myself a RTS Windcharger today. (Thank you VERY VERY much to one of the other forum members here who must live near a Ross store and who helped me out. I'd get more spicific, except I'd hate for him to be bombarded by people sending him requests to do similarly for them. But he knows who he is. Thank you!) And it got me thinking, I'm pretty close to having all of the original Autobots in Classics style.

 

So, according to the TFWiki, here is the list of the original 1984 Autobot toys, who are also (with one addition) the original crew of the Ark. In italics are the ones I have as Classics (or Classics by any other name):

That just leaves Gears and Huffer. Here's hoping after Dark of the Moon dies down Hasbro might surprise us! (I suppose I could go for the iGear Huffer... I'm still deciding if that would be worth it.)

I pre-ordered my Henkeis all before they came out. So I paid standard retail for 'ems all :) I've heard that they do go for obscene prices on the aftermarket now.

 

That just leaves Gears and Huffer.

Huffer was done as a BotCon exclusive (repaint of Cybertron Armourhide)... but I'm not gonna pay the aftermarket prices for it! I do hope that Hasbro will give us Gears and a 'proper' Huffer at retail. Some people reckon that the Kup mould could be retooled and repainted as Gears.

I've never though about completing the "Ark crew" as a set, I just like collecting Classicsverse toys. :) It's purely a coincidence that I happen to have most of the Ark crew. :P

 

How about the crew of the Nemesis? I'm guessing that would be basically the entire first year of Decepticons, so for me it'd be:

The closest approximation would be Music Label (Spark Blue) Soundwave which I have, but I don't display him with my Classicsverse Decepticons because he's part of Music Label. I also have Music Label "Conjoined Twins" Rumble and Frenzy too, but they look too different from their G1 counterparts for me to consider as part of Classicsverse. I've never been able to find the proper Classicsverse Rumble and Frenzy at retail and I sure as hell ain't gonna pay the stupid scalper prices I've seen people charge.

So once I get all of the stuff I ordered from BBTS, I'll only have a lack of Gears to worry about. (And a hope for a larger Trailbreaker... but at least he will have some representation.)

Megatron -- I have the classics version.

Soundwave -- Don't have a good "Classics" representation... Would like the blue Music Label one.

Rumble -- I broke down and just ordered the Takara two-pack of him and Frenzy... Que the anouncement of a Hasbro release!

Laserbeak -- Unless something better comes along, I think I'd be happy repurposing my Real Gear Booster X10.

Ravage -- I have the one that came with Hound.

Frenzy -- See note above with Rumble.

Buzzsaw -- Did he actually even apear in season one? First evidence I can find of him is in episode 3 of season 2... So I can live without him.

Starscream -- Got the original Classics.

Thundercracker -- Waiting in my Pile of Loot at BBTS.

Skywarp -- Got the original Classics.

Reflector -- That Perfect Effect one looks pretty nice and seems to have gotten nice reviews... May break down and get it eventually.

Various Air Warriors -- I can live without any generic seekers.

Shrapnel -- I think the Insecticons being on the Nemesis is somewhat debatable. I can live without them. Although those Fansproject ones seem pretty good. But I am leaning towards passing.

Bombshell -- See above.

Kickback -- See above.

 

So, if we discount the Insecticons and Buzzsaw, I am somewhat close to having the Nemesis crew, too! And unlike the absent Gears, this one is (to my satisfaction, at least) completeable.

And, because... well, why not? Here's the Arc crew in vehicle mode, complete with the just-arrived-today Bluestreak and with Optimus coming to visit from his usual spot with the rest of the Optimi.

 

 

Probably won't bother with another photo until I have everyone else (minus the annoyingly absent Gears).

Hmm... i have nearly the entire set as well.. but all are the original G1... and i put them in the Igear Ark. As far as I can tell.. the only ones i'm missing are:

 

- Bluestreak

- Sunstreaker

- windcharger

 

 

- I have all the decepticons except the insecticons - but I have no desire for them.

 

 

I also have 1 complete set of Dinobots - my 2nd set (so i can put them in both modes) is missing 2 (unofrt, including swoop who is VERY hard to find in great condition w/the head not loose).

 

I also have 3 complete sets of Constructicons - (so i can pose them in all 3 modes; bot; vehicle; and combined - Devestator)

Yeah I got all of the Ark and Nemesis crew in original G1s, but I believe this thread is looking at assembling them as Classics-verse. :)

The Insecticons were only part of the Nemesis crew in the G1 cartoon. They were never part of the Nemesis crew in the G1 comics - instead they remained on Cybertron where they served under Lord Straxus. It as only after Straxus and Megatron made contact with each other and started collaborating that the Insecticons were transported to Earth via the Decepticon Space Bridge. But they certainly were never part of the Nemesis' crew.

That's a good point - the Dinobots were part of the Ark crew in the G1 comics. :)

The Constructicons were never part of the Nemesis crew in any G1 continuity. In both the G1 comics and the G1 cartoon the Constructicons were built on Earth. Yes I know that later G1 cartoon continuity contradicts their Earth origins as shown in "Heavy Metal War," but in any case they were never shown to be part of the Nemesis crew -- we never saw them in "More Than Meets The Eye." So due to lack of definitive canonical evidence, I wouldn't count them as part of the Nemesis' original crew.

 

I just checked TFwiki (reference), and the original 23 strong crew compliment for the Ark in the G1 comics were:

Ratchet - I use CYB Red Alert. I was so disgusted by Ironhide I couldn't bring myself to buy Ratchet. Anyone tried Universe Ratchet's head on Specialist Ratchet's body yet?

Windcharger - never even saw him, and he wasn't a priority like G2 Prime or Wreck-Gar
