Transformers Masterpiece Rodimus Prime Sightings Thread

bwbm: I imagine that with "1 per customer" it's per transaction. So if people really want more they would need to maybe go back to their car and stash the toy in the boot, then come back to the store and buy another one and so on and so on. While it's possible for a single customer to abuse the store's customer limit, at least by enforcing a 1 per transaction limit you're making it less convenient for them to do so. I imagine that people who are willing to go through that amount of trouble to get more than one must have a good reason for doing so (e.g. buying a second one for a friend) or they're just really greedy.

So when are we going to see some comparisons between the Takara one and the TRU one.

That didn't sound demanding at all.

I'm planning on taking some comparison photos in about a fortnight's time.

If I buy more than one I do it so I can trade. Don't hate the player, hate the game... :D

Don't blame "the game". If you buy more than one, that's your own deliberate choice.

As others have said, knowing it's a highly sought after toy, if you really wanted another one you could just wait a month or so and if there's still stock, get a second one. Besides, if you get a TakaraTOMY one and a local Hasbro one, then you already have two versions of the mould anyway (and it's technically not really having doubles). You could display one in robot mode and the other in alt mode.

They limited the SDCC Skystriker on the HTS.com and at the convention to 1 per person and just look at eBay prices! $49 figure going for $300. Limiting the sale to 1 per person didn't seem to help. I think that just makes people more apt to buy more than one because they know people want it.

If they didn't have the 1 per customer limit, you can bet some f***wit would come along and buy almost all the toys leaving other attendees with nothing to buy. I think it might have happened at conventions in the past which is why they introduced the rule. Now some people might attend the convention but not be interested in keeping the toy, so they'll go and sell it... and being greedy bastards, they'll jack the prices up.

But we can't just blame the sellers, there's also the buyers who are willing to pay their outrageous prices, thus justifying their despicable practice. So I reckon buyers are half to blame too... if people refused to pay inflated prices, then we'd drive these greedy sods out of business. I for one refuse to pay inflated prices; I'll either get a toy at its normal price (or less) or not at all. Simple as that.

That's why I still don't have a United Frumble yet... come on Hasbro, release those moulds!! Although I personally would have preferred the United version, just because I prefer FIBRIR - and Hasbro will probably go with FIRRIB... but I'm not going to pay exorbitant prices for the privilege of having FIBRIR!

I went to TRU in Albany, GA today. Keri, a WONDERFUL associate, asked if she could help. I had the UPC from the above pic and she looked up the item in their inventory. Zero in back. Zero on floor. She then looked and saw that Columbus, GA had seven in. She called the store and arranged a phone purchase for me. The Columbus store is FedExing Rodimus to me AT NO CHARGE. The process did take over half an hour mostly because the people in Columbus seemed have little, if any, experience with a phone sale.

The moral of the story is that you CAN get a Rodimus Prime without feeding the scalpers. You could probably call a "High Volume" store directly to arrange a phone sale, but Keri went above and beyond to make sure it happened for me.

THANK YOU!!!

Good luck.

When I saw WONDERFUL I immediately prepared myself for a horror story, thinking you were being sarcastic. Its good to see some encouraging sightings after all the bad news - I thought that after they took Rodimus down from the website it was over.

A sarcastic Transformers fan!?! I never!!!!

;)

Dude... phone orders? I didn't know I can do that. Must call tomorrow.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off that way. I would appreciate a chance to see them side by side as I am trying to figure out if it's worth picking up TRU Hot Rod or just go ahead and get the Takara one. If I find the TRU one I will buy it, but I may go ahead and buy the Takara one as well. Thanks and I look forward to your comparison. Thanks! :)

Well, you are correct, if there wasn't a limit, it would have been way worse. I was just saying that even WITH the limit the SDCC SS w/ Co Co sold out fast! Yeah I agree it isn't just the sellers to blame, if someone will buy it for $300 I'm sure there are plenty of people who will sell it at 500% profit. I would and still will pay $100 for that figure MISB, so I think I'll just have to wait for the hype and demand to cool down once other figures come out and redirect the attention else where. I hope they do make a Thundercracker with Destro and a Skywarp with Baroness or maybe even Zartan? Would be cool to see those together with the MP figures.

Rumble will always be Red to me and Frenzy will be Blue.

Oh and I have never bought more than 1 MP figure at a time, unless they were on clearance, which means that no one wanted them anyways.

So, the same TRU that Lord Mega picked his up at I was talking with one of the workers there. I wasn't there when it happened yesterday but he was telling me how one guy grabbed four of the Rodimus Primes and turned around to pick up the other four that were on the shelf. Some one else snatched up the four that the guy initially picked up. They start fighting about it and the clerk tells them they can't purchase any of them so another person comes along and snatches them up.

These aren't collecters buying these up guys. I'm telling you, in San Antonio, it's scalp city. The problem may be the fact that Toys R Us stores are far and few between and they only ship a limited amount of these things to each of their stores. I wonder if there is a way to get Hasbro and TRU to get a wider release out to the market on this one.

Texas is lame, we're fat with them up here in the northeast.

Still doesn't turn into a space RV so I'm not interested.

Buying 3 of them though? Man that's a serious addiction or you've got a metric shitload of cash to burn.

Damn.

Suggestion: how about people only publicly report what state/province/prefecture/territory that they've sighted a toy in, and if anyone is interested to know which city it's in, they can PM the spotter. Because we all know that scalpers do check out publicly posted sightings.

Just a suggestion.

So the hunt begins....

It was a fast hunt for me. I was at Toys R Us on Friday. Didn't have either the cash on me or the 20% off coupon I just acquired by "liking" Toys R US on facebook at the time. 3 were on the shelf. Amd that was around 1 in the afternoon that day. Swung by on Saturday afternoon with coupon in hand, at around 1-ish??? So 24 hours from the last time I was staring at him. There was one left. I had no choice! Picked him up yesterday. That was in the Waterloo, Iowa Toys R US. And if they get it then he's out everywhere.

LOL!

The only way I can see this happening between TRU and Hasbro is if they actually had the stuff on sale on their website, which they do not currently, and then limited quantities to say 2 per person. At least then everyone would be able to acquire him in some way.

Depends on where you live -- there are two TRUs within 12km of my home.
