Review - Transformers Dark of the Moon

Recommended Posts

The new films will/might involve some of the same characters but introduce a new story, just like X-Men First Class. Although it technically is connected to the first X-series, it was made as the beginning of a new series of X-Films.

I think Megatron was so lazy in the movie was because he appeared really weak. Like all those scalpel doctor bugs had to keep working on him 24/7 just to keep him alive. Which given that their probably sadistic little bastards, they were probably not using anesthesia and were annoying.

The scene where Laserbeak turned into like a red Bumblebee freaked me the hell out. That was horrifying.

I wouldn't expect them to treat Galvatron as Megatron. Though they could, but also I wonder if they'd use another character. It's possible. I recall Don Murphy saying years ago that the plan was to make an ongoing movie series. Dunno how much of that will see light of day, but as Pirates 4 showed us, studios are over trilogies. I don't blame them, money in the bank after all.

I think we're almost certainly looking at a reboot. If only because Hasbro has been living on borrowed time with these character designs for years already.

Yeah Megs really didn't do much of anything, did he? He just seemed like he was a grumpy old man loafing around the whole time....

Did you play the DOTM game yet? If not I won't spoil it for you but Megatron is actually alot more active in there than he was in the movie. Seeing him get his truck alt mode was cool too, if a little anticlimactic.

eh go ahead and spoil it. i assume the game works the same as the 2007 movie's game and therefore is a shooter....i cant play shooters to save my life lol

It is a 3rd person action/shooter, but the contools are really tight and after playing through on Hard mode I started a new campaign on Easy mode just to clean up some trophies. You almost have to make a conscious decision to try an d die on Easy mode. The story is enough to make it worth playing. But I digress.

Megatron discovers that Shockwave is being kept in cryostasis in Russia much as he was in America. You get to control Megs in chapter 6 and assault the base where Shockwave is being held. It's heavily gaurded by Autobots and military. You have to take them out and sabotage the coolers so Shockwave can awaken. It's a fun chapter that culminated in decent battle against Optimus Prime. I enjoyed the dialogue, but I believe this is the first time in my life I uttered the words "Goddamn Optimus Prime! I'LL KILL YOU!!"

What's anticlimactic about Megs getting his truck mode has more to do (for me anyway) with All the grand theories we discussed on this site for why he finally had an Earth mode. About halfway through the chapter Autobot reinforcements arrive and Megatron realizes he won't be able to fight his way out. So he scans a heavily fortified military truck in one of the hangars and uses that form to slip out in the confusion created when Shockwave starts to wake up at the end of the chapter. I know the essential purpose of being able to transform in the first place is the ability to hide oneself, to blend in, but I guess after all the speculation I was hoping for something a little cooler.

Still had a blast playing the game though. It's worth a go just to turn invisible as Mirage (NOT Dino) to stealth kill Decepticons or dogfight the Aerialbots as Starscream. Through only real disappointment was chapter 7, where you finally get to control Optimus. The entire chapter consists of one battle (albeit a long one) against Shockwave. I wanted more Prime.

Took my boys (16 & 11) to see this last Friday - they liked it (or so they said); I found myself cringing more than once, and I don't enjoy that. I appreciate that they used the original transformation sound a few times, & I appreciated the role Sentinel Prime ultimately played, & I even appreciated the emotional moments Sam managed to portray when he thought Bumblebee was about to die, but that's about it. At this point, I'm just glad it's over.

Yeah seriously what the fuck was that even about? It's like "Ok I'm gonna sneak into this guy's house to kill him...So I'm gonna disguise myself as a miniature autobot. They'll never suspect a thing!

even dumber was that it worked! Who lets mini Autobots just waltz into their homes and HANG OUT WITH THEIR KIDS?!!?!??!

i feel shockwave not doing much was a homage to the original and animated version, they don't do much but when they do... it is FUCKING terrifying. :awsum

after rising storm, im not surprised Brains and wheelie ran away at the sight of him.

clearly... laserbeak knows how gullible kids are when it comes to shiny red robot. Smart bird.:con

Ok, Jason Statham now rumored to be in the 4th movie, maybe as an older Sam? LOL
