Review - Transformers Dark of the Moon

Recommended Posts

Saw it today

High points: Laserbeak - I didn't expect much from him based off the toy. His ability to transform into damn near anything was absolutely awesome to me.

The Story - This was the best written story out of the three IMO. It was easy to follow along and keep tabs. Plus it has some soul to it.

Optimus Prime - He manned up a bit. Kicked ass, took names and showed to be a bit of a hard ass when needed. That's what I'm talking about

Low points: Sentinel Prime - Yes, I didn't like his character. He shot Ironhide in the back, was rather selfish for an Autobot and died a coward.

Decepticons overall - Starscream reverted to a spineless kissup? Soundwave as a M-B SLS? Megatron having very little action? Bad form.

Humans - They should have named these movies HUMANS: Featuring Transformers. :roll

All said, perhaps the best of the three movies. I was disappointed with the ending, as I thought they might have taken at least 5 min to tie up loose ends. The 3D was decent, but I think it would have been just as good in 2D.

Yeah, it did seem to stop short with no real winding down from the action.

Eh, RotF ended abruptly with no closure as well.

Yeah, but ROTF was the second part of a trilogy and as much as I liked it really probably shouldn't be held up as an example of how any movie should be done.

Yeah Megs really didn't do much of anything, did he? He just seemed like he was a grumpy old man loafing around the whole time....

Did you play the DOTM game yet? If not I won't spoil it for you but Megatron is actually alot more active in there than he was in the movie. Seeing him get his truck alt mode was cool too, if a little anticlimactic.

eh go ahead and spoil it. i assume the game works the same as the 2007 movie's game and therefore is a shooter....i cant play shooters to save my life lol

It's not a trilogy, there will be another movie. Just not a Bay movie.

No its a Trilogy, there wont be another movie for a long time. and if they decide to follow the Star Wars guide and do 3 prequels or go into the future, or a reboot. Either way it will be years before another Transformers movie is made.

I wouldn't be surprised if they went ahead and did a "reboot" of sorts in a few years centered on a different generation/iteration of the Transformers franchise. I mean, although Bay's film series was not exactly G1, there were enough references to tie it to G1. Perhaps Hasbro will want to do a Beast Wars or Armada "related" series...then again, they can always do something completely new too.

I don't think Hasbro and Dreamworks will let this cash-cow go on without future films (live action or animated) in the next 5 years.

Nope, not a trilogy.

Check out the press release for the ride, it says clearly there is a 4th in the works. It might be more than 2 years before it (might be a good thing to wait a few years), but there is another coming. I doubt it would be a full reboot, but maybe a soft oe in order to set a new direction.

If that is the case, then this is a Trilogy, and the next movie will be the beginning of a new Trilogy if it even makes it that far. I would be surprised, if they made a 4th movie to follow up on DOTM. Since they did take most of the main Decepticons out and the resurrection thing has been over played.

Now if they were to go with how IDW treats Megatron and Galvatron as two separate beings, and he shows up along with Hot Rod. Then that is the beginning on the next Trilogy.
