I still think repro barrels done from the protos/test shots would be the best option... Anyone willing to provide one of their protos?

I just want to say that we should really not blame Hasbro for this. I mean, take a look at Tracks -- the guy has rocket launchers and guns built into his arms, aside from his engine gun. This is obviously a Honda issue.

Of course, the problem is that now the Honda Alternator ends up looking like the biggest puss in the world. "Ehhh!! I've got two shields!!! Nobody hurt me, okay?? Ehhhh!!!!"

LOL!!! You are so sadly right, but it's so funny at the same time!

I say Hasbro packages a car cover that converts a trench coat for bot mode - that way he's not carrying a silly engine block, he's carrying a sawed-off instead! :tflaugh

This makes me think of that GIJoe guy Lifeline who refused to use guns or violence even when it came to protecting the innocent. I hated him! Ironically he and some other guy were my first GIJoe figures.

What can you do. Its not like the accessories are the big draw for me anyway.

I have a long barrel ;)

so, no barrel on the BT version either? :(

So, now I'm curious about something. What's got everyone steamed over a little piece of plastic? I'm not being an ass or anything, but I just have to wonder out loud that if there was no barrel to begin with and they added it to make it look less like a weapon, would there still be the same reaction? Or, is it more the response--"it doesn't look like a weapon, so we'll saw the front end off"--that's getting the reactions? I'm not doing this to start a riot or get under anyone's skin, but it just strikes me as interesting in this case.

Undetermined.

Although Honda is a Japanese company, it might have been the US subsidiary (which has it's own marketing department) that made the decision to delete the barrel. Also, the Binaltechs are aimed at the older collector market in Japan, so the barrel might not be a problem with Honda Japan.
