So does anyone have pics of TFs in toy aisles from the 80s?

You know I just thought of something about jumping back in time through pictures. It's wise to be carefull of which pictures you choose to jump back in time through, you don't want to choose a family picture to jump into.

Very cool. Thx for posting.

Anybody remember when Kaybee used to tape together several toys packages together for clearance deals. I remember those and can hear the cries of MISB collectors.

wow, nostalgia rush! thanks so much for posting these up!

Where were these pictures found? Anyone know?

Ah, back when retail wasn't so commercial. Utilitarian straight aisles packed floor to ceiling with goodies. Now it's all about this open air and consumer friendly shit. 1985, take me away!

"Ah Cybertron, the good old days!"

I was at the tail end of all this. 1988 was when I was old enough to remember going into toy stores and looking at this stuff and the memories are just like those pics. Of course within a few years that started changing. Lionel Play World was the last outlet for stuff like that until it got rubbed out. Looking back, retail "progress" doesn't seem its as cracked up as its advertised. There is a downward spiral of quality and selection. Worse, you have to search every where just to get the damn toy and if you don't buy certain ones when you see em, you may never see it again. Unlike in those pictures, you could come back the next day, or week and get that same certain toy later.

God how I remember and love those days! The photos remind me of my two favorite Transformers (and toys in general!) shopping places...Toys R Us and a long lost chain called JAFCO. The selection was always amazing back then. Whole sections dedicated to Transformers, G.I. Joe, Robotech, M.A.S.K., Voltron...all the best! Now days shelf space is so limited it's ridiculous. I really enjoyed the first picture as well, with all the Japanese robots (Shoguns and Machinder). Those suckers are beautiful, and so expensive today!

I was thinking the exact same thing. Now it's all about wasted space and ordering in smaller quantities.
