So does anyone have pics of TFs in toy aisles from the 80s?

Recommended Posts

If you know here to get a good working Deloran that can travel through time, be sure to pick me up before heading to the past, quite fancy a TF hunt in the 80s.

Also a little stop in 2000/2001 to find RID Optimus Primal.

Yeah, Microman did 3. A Robot, a Falcon, & a Lion. Didn't need more, stopped at three.

Beast Wars used the molds for 3 key chains. 3 in good guy colors and 3 in bad guy colors. Takara didn't start making new ones like Pokemon balls for fake animals (thank Primus).

I really miss shopping toy shelves in the 70's & 80's. Dream about it a couple times a year and wake up happy but sad at the same time :cjdance :tdown

maybe... not much of a hunt though. tf's were everywhere.

and no to 2000/2001... horrible years, well... except for my hawaiian vacation. you should have bought my car robots fire convoy when you had the chance.

tonka!!! now that's a toy that has gone down hill. i had a tonka dump truck that i used to bash into another one the it started getting mangled. sharp metal, broken plastic parts. i played with those trucks until they were litterly crushed. thems were good times

Hi, this is a discussion from another site, but wanted to see if anyone here had any pics of TFs in toy aisles from the glory days. For example, see these pics. Everyone deserves to remember these days, or at least see what you missed out on.

If you could travel back there into those pictures, just imagine how crazy you would look to everyone else, trying to buy EVERYTHING off the shelf. "WTF is up with this guy?" all lined up at the register w/ like 8 shopping carts full of s***

Then you get the old "don't change anything in the past or it will screw up the future" speech in your head on the way to the checkout... Our reply is "FUCK THAT", I'm not leaving the store without these :lol

My rationale is that most of the stuff would have ended up broken and in a landfill somewhere anyway.

I'd actually be doing the world a favor by preserving those wonderful things. :)

...

also, now that i think about the pic. Im kinda surprized to see that Megs there with the Wheelie and Metroplex. I thought that Megs was long gone by the time those came out...anyway, thats the justification that i've been using to NOT blame my parents for not getting me a Megs. when i was a kid. :shrug

Ah but what if you go back, to get that elusive Transformer you never had as a kid, and take the one off the shelf which if you hadn't taken would have been there for yourself as a kid to get!! Aargh, time paradox!! :eek

I think that's the Zodiac Toys pic, so it's from the UK. We were always a bit behind with TFs, I got Megs in May of 86 myself, which was about the time Ultra Magnus/Wheelie/Metroplex etc started showing up.
