Inheriting someone's collection...

Recommended Posts

Ultrazilla,

I think you've got a handle on what to do with his stuff and how to work it into your collection in a meaningful way. Great ideas and great tribute to your friend.

Also, thanks for the kind words too. This weekend is going to be pretty tough. Then, the kids come back to school in about 2 weeks so it'll be rough then too.

I have never had that kind of experience...

I inherited a few things from my Grandpa when he died. A gun, his pocket watches. They are special to me and I'm glad to have them.

If I die unexpectedly though, I would like a good friend of mine to take custody of my collection. All I would want is that he keeps my Starscream collection updated as dilligently as he keeps his Primes. I know he'd think of me and remember good times when he looked at or played with any of my figs, and I figure that's a pretty cool way to leave a part of yourself with someone.

I'd want my little brother to keep one of my cooler pieces like MP Grimmy or Mindwipe/Skystalker too to put on a bookshelf or something. Just something of mine that he could have to remind him of me. Come to think of it, I would also like for him to have the things I got from Grandpa...

I think your friend would like that his Transformers live with someone who appreciates them for what they are and for your rememberance of him. I don't think you should sell them... better to pass them on to someone else who would love them if you find you can't keep them. Don't feel guilty. Instead, be happy that you have been entrusted with something your friend loved.

Well, my great-grandma died in April and her grand-children/my aunts and uncle, had some stuff from the 80's in her Garage. The only transformers I saw was just the body of G1 Grapple and G1 Swoop. I display them as a way to remember her. She was 91.

keep what you want & do a charity auction with the ones you don't want - pretty sure any friend would be happy with you doing that

You know, that had actually crossed my mind...I may end up looking into that.

I'm sure your friend would be happy that you have something to remember him by, his collection is in good hands with someone who will take good care of the collection.

Since I'm not a parent, nor married, then I'll likely inherit my collection to either my parents, if they're still alive whenever I die, or to my sister's kids.

I really should see about making a will or something, just in case.
