How did G1 officially end?

Not quite. the Fun Publications Cybertron comics were specifically set in the main cartoon continuity, showing what was going on on Cybertron. Specifically, the Fun Publications material, as with the 3H material prior to it, dealt with stories through many existing continuities as well as ones created specifically for the OTFCC. the stories set in Cybertron were established as part of the main AEC universe and dealt with specific issues on the planet as well as answered questions the cartoon didn't have time to answer. This is very similar to how Wreckers was used to resolve the issues between the Primus origin story and the Quintesson origin story.

The issue with Sky Shadow is a completely different scenerio, and that is what I was referring to earlier regarding micro-continuities.

I was actually using Sky Shadow as an example since he was already named, I guess I could have used Cryo Scourge or Soundblaster

The Fun Publications may have been set in the mainstream however they were exclusive to the OTFCC, therefore they are negated as what was previously stated.

You could say the same thing about Jetfire being Sky Shadow being set in the mainstream for the exact same reason. However you would lose your exclusivity if you were to accept Jetfire being Sky Shadow.

Let's look at the word exclusive since the OTFCC likes to toss it around with their product and compare it to the more mainstream wide releases

EXCLUSIVE

1. not admitting of something else

2. omitting from consideration or account

3. limited to the object or objects designated

4. admitting only members of a socially restricted or very carefully selected group

First off I will admit that I am guilty of the 2nd definition for Exclusive. Since I do not accept any of the continuity from the OTFCC, Beast Machines, or Animated

Though the definitions describe the OTFCC perfectly.

1. They insist its canon, yet not everyone has access to it

2. Omitting and trying to negate events that have already occured

3. What they say goes basically

4. Costs of joining

Now why would anything coming out of the OTFCC be considered worthy of any kind of canon, when they are so bent up with being exclusive? And going against the mass, just because they can?

As a matter of fact they even state "Register Now For Your Exclusive Membership"

Now lets look at the comparison of your toy micro continuity, and my exclusive micro continuity

Instead of Sky Shadow lets use Soundblaster instead forthis one

He never appeared in Cybertron, is a repaint of Soundwave.

Soundblaster, also known as Logos Prime, is an "ancient" Transformer equal with Vector Prime and possessing extraordinary power over space and time. He can take any name and form that he chooses. Soundblaster is partnered with the bird-bot Hell Buzzsaw, who he uses to speak through to mere mortals.

After the Great Reformatting, Logos Prime abducted Optimus Primal and Megatron onto his amazing starship, though they had lost their memories. After a series of confusing escapades between the two, Logos Prime introduced himself as Soundblaster. He offered his powers over space and time to Megatron, hoping that he'd be his successor. But Vector Prime appeared and interrupted. The two old Transformers recognized each other as Ancients, and a battle was likely imminent... Master of the Game

He was in a comic, so therfore he is not a toy micro continuity right?

Ok let's play with my exclusive micro continuity

And we can use Soundblaster again for this one.

Never was a Hasbro released figure so a Japanese Exclusive. Most have never heard of Soundblaster whether it be Soundblaster from Headmasters or Soundblaster from Toy's Dream Project

Beast Wars reborn was exclusive to Japan as a 4 part story. The story did not come over even though the Megatron and Optimus Primal 2-pack did.

And yet for the Beast Wars Reborn story

Though it is meant to follow Beast Machines, the presence of Vector Prime and Soundblaster imply a relation to Transformers: Cybertron. Fun Publications's Transformers Collectors' Club #12 lists this continuity as an offshoot of the Unicron Trilogy, while Takara was busy trying to explain how Cybertron is and isn't part of any prior continuity. Guess who else gets the blame. Whether this explains Sky Shadow's story is inconclusive.

That Sky Shadow back story pops up everywhere

How many people do you think actually know this? Obviously it is official And yet the OTFCC jumped right on it, since they listed it as a continuity

Now Both BW Megatron and BW Optimus Primal have toys in the Cybertron line after all that exclusivity not being known by the general masses. Neither Optimus Primal or Megatron appearing in Cybertron.

How can you justify saying it is official or in a sense a micro continuity? Since it is Exclusive knowledge ?

Multiverse is multiverse. Micro, splinter, mainstream, all sanctioned by the governing body and all canon in their own officially sanctioned universe. Same way you can be a G1 fan (original G1) and still have several officially sanctioned versions of the story.

What if you prefer Unoffical?

Then its all good for your own enjoyment. I was just pointing out, again, that regardless of term (micro, spliter, etc) its still an alternate universe in the multiverse, and still happened regardless.

I knew there was another I was forgetting :)

The answer to Primal and Megatron is 2 fold and simple.

The first is like Mivie Fracture who is supose to be Crasher from Gobots.

Hasbro wanted to call her Crasher but didn't, but it's OK because that what Hasbro ment to do.

-theres a story out there that (even though the figures where explicetly made for the Beast Wars 10th) that for a brief period on Jungle Planet Optimus and Megatron where going to be temporarily reformated.

Hence the repaints in the first line that went beyond using repaints to the point of intentional explotation.

Outside of rumor it never happened, but since it's something Hasbro wanted to do(even though they had nothing to do with creating the series), it must be what happened even though it didn't.

The other answer(which is the one I buy into), Hasbro had nothing for a year so they crammed everything they could into the Cybertron line's second year of near straight repaints till the movie came around.

People can validate it however they want, but really, like I already said in this thread, when it comes to story don't count on Hasbro for :poop

Multiverse is multiverse. Micro, splinter, mainstream, all sanctioned by the governing body and all canon in their own officially sanctioned universe. Same way you can be a G1 fan (original G1) and still have several officially sanctioned versions of the story.

What if you prefer Unoffical?

I find that the best way to go.

My figures, my stories...

I don't understand someone complaining something wasn't explained, then we point out it was, but they decided to ignore that part of the fiction? Well, if you ignore fiction, it's your problem.

Instead of thinking of it was "micro continuities" that you ignore, think of all the comics, and tech specs, and club stories as additional material like we see on shows like Lost or Heroes. If you skip that stuff you can still watch the show, but you are missing out on a lot of things.

Oh, and everyone has access to the OFTCC the same as the Cybertron TV series. You have to buy the DVDs to watch it right (it's not on the air any more)? You have to buy their club membership to read their stories - otherwise you have to read the synopsis online, which also isn't free, as you are probably paying for internet access. Same thing. Having to pay to read/watch fiction doesn't make it unofficial... Did you pay to see any of the Transformers movies?

So you complain something wasn't explained, then we point out it was, buy you decide to ignore that part of the fiction? Your problem chum. Sorry.

It's more like Liege and I prefer unoffical, and make our own, since Hasbro leaves everything a total mess and confusing to the point where if makes better sense to create our own.

We can pick and chose what we want to use or ignore

The Club is one thing I completely ignore in mine

exactly, ever since day 1, the cartoon conflicted with the comics which colflicted with the bios and so on and so on...

hell even the old back box lithos didn't coinside with anything.

It's easy to say there were to many spectrums back then, but that completely denounces the idea of Hasbro being the "authority"

Skip 25+ years lter and see that things are just as if not more screwed up and it leaves me simply feeling like this

-shows, comics, movies, and what have you are one shot bits of entertainment

Doesn't matter if you scored a free bootleg or shelled out to be an "official" fan

None of it means anything since all it takes is one new writer or series to reboot, let alone retcon all of it.

I enjoy the Transformers stories, but I don't care about them.

Honestly, the best anyone can do is just take the parts they like, and figure it out for themseleves cause honestly, same as RID, Animated, AEC, and even G1, when the stories over it doesn't matter anymore.

At least thats the attitude of the folks at the helm.

Think about it, Star Trek was nearly 50 before it got a reboot, and even that made sure to tie into the origional series.

With Cartoon characters that should be even easier, after all, Bart Simpson is pushing 25 going on 10 perpetualy.

Don't wanna fight with anyone or call anyone out in all this. All I'm saying is find what you like and run with that cause after all, it's really just bull :poop anyway.

First off, Being stories written for an exclusive collectors club is not grounds for it's omission from canon. Canon is specifically all of the officially sanctioned material, no matter the source. The OTFCC material is officially sanctioned by Hasbro, and much of it is written by Hasbro employees (Forest Lee in particular). Second, the OTFCC material doesn't try to "negate" events that happened before. They never have. They have explained how things have happened before in new ways to reconcile certain "conflicts", such as the Quintesson/Primus connection revealed in Wreckers #3.

Heres the thing, the Galaxy Force Soundblaster story is part of Japanese continuity, not a micro-continuity. Try looking up what a micro-continuity is. Micro-continuties have a very limited focus, and often exist in a vacuum where the only information about them comes from the few pieces within that micro-continuity. Examples include toy only bios, such as Sky Shadow's toy bio or the Machine Wars toy bios. They also cover specific discrepancies between toy lines and other stories (such as the case with G1 Galvatron's toy bio vs the cartoon and movie). And they cover very limited fictions existing in only a very small number (or even a single volume) of works, such as the Ladybird and Choose Your Own books, and LEgends, and the Beast Wars Transmetals video game.

The story involving Galaxy Force Soundblaster is part of Japanese continuity. Exactly where Takara places it in their continuities. Given their track record of trying to cram everything directly into existing continuity though, I'd have to conclude that it is part of their main continuity, or even as a bridge between the two main universes in Japanese continuity. And, given the title, Beast Wars Reborn, and it's specific placement in time (after the reformatting of Cybertron), it supports it being part of the main Japanese G1 continuity. In fact, based upon the Takara flow chart, it's an intersection point between the post Beast Wars G1 continuity and Galaxy Force continuities. Either way, it is a very different scenario from the Sky Shadow situation. The Sky Shadow scenario is limited in scope and is only to the toy bios. This is what makes it a micro-continuity and outside of the main AEC continuity. The same is true of Cryo Sourge. Scourge never becomes Cryo Scourge in the main continuity, only in the micro-continuity of the toy bios.

Let's apply a off topic question to this, in order to see where the parallels are. Star Wars, there's the Expanded Universe and the movie only universe. Both are official in some ways, yet Lucas generally doesn't accept the Expanded Universe as actual canon and more as fan fic (or as I've been told). Now where do you count Star Wars canon?

Basically, what I'm saying is the multiverse (which Expanded Universe was applied to at one point)while official and each version did happen (regardless of size and scope)officially, one can choose to follow there favorites like toon or comic (which even the mighty G1 toon had various variations, like the Constructicons for example).

Not entirely true. The Star Wars EU is part of the SW movie universe. It's all one continuous timeline. This was explicitly covered by Su Rostoni in an article in the back of Star Wars Gamer #6. The point of SW canon that comes into play is the hierachy of canon when conflicts between sources occur. And when such a conflict occurs, the higher level source takes precedence thus nullifying the contradictory information in the lower ranking source. It's still all a part of the same continuity, the same timeline, the same history. It's not multiple continuities.

This is very different than what happens with Transformers. In Transformers, there is no "hierarchy" of canon. Each continuity exists equally, and every possible outcome happens in a given continuity unless a specific retcon by Hasbro is created to deliberately overwrite something (which is rare).More often, their retcons to existing continuity simply add to and reinterpret older information. Thus, in the case of the Transformers canon, we have a multiverse consisting of many universes, all of which officially happen. In Star Wars, there is only one continuous universe in which the movies and EU exist as a single historical timeline, not a multiverse of separate continuities.
